everyone i know who bought new-ish first/second cars got fed up quickly, as they got NCB and realise they could insure pretty much what they want, but are stuck with it for ages. my advice is stick with what you have... the grass always looks greener, but it soon wears off

probably not going to happen tried for insurance and most companys are coming up with 1k+ wtf

2 years no claims on my rattler is £80.80 and group 4 surely a 1.0 eco super duper frendly group 1 should be cheaper

ill be honest. your age and the value of the car wont go in your favour. see if you wank a 300 quid fiesta theyre not really going to be that worried...a 7k car plus whatever else is involved...theyre not going to be best pleased. im not saying youll do it..someone else may do it for you. but the risk factor is there. whilst your driving may be fine there are plenty of wankers out there and the more its worth/insured driver/age/no claims/postcode is all factored in. newer cars may have more security than before so theres less chance of it being pinched but thats just moving with the times. and more safety equipment is basically more of the same. so while they may be harder to steal and you have a higher chance of survival, essentially..theyre just as easy to write off. or if you dont..create a big repair bill.

i never said it was fair i dont think i insured a car as fully comp till i was 22. by which time id been on the road 4 years. because i was running about in crappers clinging to an mot for 12 months then getting another one.

Car Value is a huge factor for my insurance quotes. A couple of months before being 24 years old and it's the first time I've ever had Fully Comp insurance!

Personally...

I would buy a slightly older car, say 4/5 years old.

Get a small economical deisel, or small petrol. Im sure the insurance wont be too bad.

Also, ive just turned 23, and its the first time Ive ever had Fully Comp! - Only because it was cheaper to insure my shitty cunto fully comp than TPFT £28 a month FTW

fully comp was cheaper for me aswell strangely. I think you should stick with what you got, insuance might be cheaper but finance+insurance will be more. Plus i seen how good the bodywork on your car is and it would be a shame to scrap it.

me and the old man sat down and done the sums and it just didnt work out i didnt wanna really get tied down into finance they call options cba to explain but its a vicious circle that keeps going round so im gonna keep the rattler

Funny enough my mum has one of the new 1.25 fiestas and its nearly £100 a year cheaper to insure than my diesel which is 4 years old

Insurance is a strange world, unfortunately like im sure everyone here found out is you will have trouble with anything when you're young bring on the ripe age of 25

Have you tried adding him as a secondary driver? I added my dad for a few years early on and it reduced my quote.
