I managed to get the smell out with this lemon car fabric spray foam that I brought from halfords when I first got my first car then once. Sprayed that over the seats and what was left on the headlining and hoovered it off and the smell was gone.

Now reeks of lemon though :lolz:

If the colour grows on me I'll keep it. If not it'll be all change.

Yeah I'm going to look at some wheels and get the ones I like best. I would keep the ones of it if one of the trims weren't missing and they didn't scrub so bad at the back with extra weight in the car.

It does look nice lowered though (yep its grown on me)

I do want the towbar off it, so that is definitely going

car looks mint :)
are the springs cut or are they proper lowering springs? seems odd that the wheel is scraping on 40mm drop with the 195 50 tyres :? try sum 3mm or 5mm spacers myt stop it scraping

I'm not sure on how its been lowered as of yet it looks like proper springs from what I can see, always a margin of error on my judgement though

Like I said I think its more the width that is causing the scraping, but its only with weight in the back of the car. With 2 people in the front I get no scraping as soon as someone is in the back its like opening the floodgates.

agreed, standard si and rs2000 alloys look good aswell, i feel you need to lower the si abit to make it look right especially when you put alloys on as it looks like a tractor which seems to be a growing trend on the corsa crew lol

little bit of an update with the car.

Its back to standard height for now. The state the shocks/springs were in
A lot worse then I thought they were.

The springs had indeed been cut. They weren't even sitting properly and were able to wobble from side to side.
Quite lucky not to have crashed the car (I like to think its due to my superior driving though  )

Anyway here are the bits that got replaced today.
Image
Have no idea what the large metal and small silver box are sitting to the top right of the springs. Anyone know?
They have been replaced but I wasn't aware that they were included in the exhaust manifold gasket being fixed.
The exhaust gasket was meant to be 1 thin piece of metal mine had separated into 4 pieces. Can understand why it was blowing from there.

All my proper stuff on it now. Also quite surprised with how clean the inside of my arches are :D (well coated in a bit of mud but very little rust) all the suspension is second hand so not the cleanest around.

The back
Image
Image

The front
Image

Before and after on how the car is sitting now. Wheels look ridiculous. Feeling the need to lower it properly soon :)
Left=now Right=then
Image

Now to replace both the front wishbones as they are properly knackered :(
also needs 2 new front tyres. It all took a pounding due to the cut springs....

replaced with the same parts as far as I can see. Just newer and less rusty. Still only cost me 200 for it all.

Yeah it felt weird driving it home with the higher springs on it. I now no longer fear losing teeth if I go over a pothole
Doesn't corner as nicely either.

well thought i should update this thread as this car has had a fair bit done to it.
No photos just yet but will have to get some.

Its had recently. New alternator (me and dad had to grind the metal bracket down a bit as the new alternator was slightly more chunky but identical to the old one) new drive belt, new battery, small piece of new wiring.
New wishbones.
Sills round the doors have had work done to them to halt the rust process and the sills under the car have been done today. Nice and solid if a little bent in places.
The steelies have been painted black and the nuts colour coded. Still going to get some old ford alloys for it eventually, or id like to anyhow.
Getting some bumpers to replace the slightly superficially damaged ones on it now. Also an RST bonnet is going on it. Will probably get the side skirts for it in time.
Has clear back lights but waving between them and the original shall see what wins out.
Fixed the broken passanger side fog light.

Picked up quite a few car park dings which have annoyed me.

Learnt a lot of stuff with this car and feel semi confident with repairs now. So not all bad :D

I have got loads of pictures just haven't had the time to upload and sort them out.

My sill repairs aren't brilliant but they are good enough to have done the job :)
No electrical problems at all with the car anymore. Boot popper is also back up and running.

The only issues left are the tracking and a new n/s tyre (and replacement spare one) still going to get the idle tensioner done as it still clicks but thats 100% those bearings.
There are 4 rust bubbles (no breakthrough yet) that need attention but nothing major and I'm waiting for a certain something for practice and match bodywork before I do it to the car (if its good enough the I'm going to tape off the back wing sand/grind back the little bubbling thats appeared and respray it) ;)

Also debating building a new sub box and getting rid of the cylinder one as the magnets of the subs are facing each other and the sound could be better but that is all to come.

Pictures should be up at some point over the week :)

youve had a bit of a mare with this car, thats for sure

having things constantly break on you puts a real downer on things and when it risks you not getting to work its even worse

at least now there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel! :D
