OK so i have some new plans as i cant afford to insure the fiesta anymore as i now have to go in my own name.

so the plan is to buy something newer as newer cars are cheaper to insure.

for instance
my Fiesta si wil cost 2000 grand a year to insure

Focus 2.0 ESP - 1900! and thats a 2.0 with 130bhp!!

Sportka - 1700 and thats a 1.6!

my mates zetec s and my dads ignis sport would only cost around 20 more a year aswel!

so the plan is to get something newer to have until i can build my no claims up and then in the meantime build the fiesta up into an animal and go back to it once i have no claims bonus.

Shame about the insurance, its not a strict rule newer cars are cheaper to insure. Insurance groups may have dropped as they have got more secure and safer but the value is usually more which can push your premium up.

I noticed you have only quoted fords... one of the cheaper to insure cars are the 1.2 corsa's, and those 1.2 3 pot engines are a great little engines. If you want uber cheap have a look at the C1/107/Aygo? as they are stupidly cheap to insure.

If I was you and looking at prices above I would just get something with insurance in mind, you don't have to love the car but you could probably get it down to the £1000 or less mark, keep it a couple of years get your no claims up and save a few grand for the car you do want.

Just a thought.

Nothing like actually, it is genuine advice, get the cheapest to insure car you can and plow the £1000's saved into the fiesta. Then in 2 years you will have 2 years no claims and a good amount to spend.

Just pointing out that car doesn't need to be a ford.

Like my no budget.. So buy a £300 1.0 4 speed shed. Now I have a job coming up, save up a bit of cash, talk to insurance and get myself a Fiesta again, Sometimes you have to make sacrafices.. Big ones in my case  for the good to come about,
Its a shame though as you have like 3 fiestas and clearly the time and money for them, can't you just keep the 1.4 or 1.6 engine in it and just modify the looks or something? or is that the main reason they won't insure you as well?

If he can't afford to insure the Fsi @2k (understandable) what chance has he got of buying a new 107/Aygo???

Personally, I would go dirty.
Something like a 1.1HCS or a 1.2Corsa, 1.1 106, you get the idea. Buy it for next to nothing and just don't crash. You might have fun maintaining it along the way who knows.

Also, (don't call me homo) but....Ford Ka 1.3 is a riot to drive. Handles well, probably not far off a 1.4 for speed and should be cheap to insure....

I mentioned the C1/107/Aygo as they are insurance group 1.

Pains me to say it but Chris_Lock is a good example here, get something cheap to run and insure for a while so yo can save and build up no claims.

I just never thought I would say it

The point is he could buy a newer car which would cost more and be cheap to insure, but in the end it will be worth more to sell in the end or keep as a runabout for a good while.

With that Chris did what he did due to lack of funds, if you do the same without a lack of funds then the money saved for the fiesta will be amazing.

Well with this car im hoping to get. its the lower spec model of the car ive always wanted since when they 1st came out and i was 11! so its like a step towards the car ive always wanted.

is not really cheap, but its nice and modern and cheap to run and insure so once ive payed my nan back i can save money and spend it on the fiesta and build it into a track car or something whilst still having something nice as a daily. and then move on to the higher spec version once ive built up no claims.

Had a lil problem with the fez the other nite. as it still has 'scrap' written on the bonnet, gypsies decided they thought that it was actually scrap! and asked me if they could take both the fiestas off my drive off my hands.

obviosly i told them where to go but im a bit nervous now about the cars being on display so they are quite securely locked in and covered up now.
