well i hit it hard, about 1/4 of the rim is battered. tyre is still inflated so i assume its ok?

If the tyres is still inflated its probably ok, but just check for bulges in the tyre wall both sides of the wheel

Depends how long you have had you license, get to six in the first few years and you are done for.

By definition you shouldn't increase your speed until after the sign, but if it literally was just before its a bit off and a telling off should be enough.
