Thanks for comments guys.
I've been at the car today and actually managed to diagnose and FIX the gearbox/clutch rattle i've been going on about (one of the reasons why i took it off the road).
It turned out to be a Torx bit lodged between the gearbox cradle (?) (runs from front to back of engine) and the gearbox- it took hours of nudging the engine back/front to diagnose it - it would only make the noise when you pushed the engine via the inlet manifold back towards to car. By moving the engine a minor amount the rattle would appear. Everytime the gearbox came ever so slightly back it was leaning onto the torx bit thus rattling. It wasn't actually visible because of the lip/curve design of the cradle as it's sort of like a cup.... anyway, after nearly loosing 2 fingers and alot of wiggling i finally freed it.
Offending item:

I've also decided to bin my air filter today...i figured it wasn't doing the engine much good with a massive split in the rubber boot bit...

Also fixed a misfire i was having by re-fitting the HT leads as they were sat incorrectly on the plugs...
FINAL update for today, i've got the standard wheels on...i've spaced them 5mm, i think they look ok, i need a proper look when the car is clean though to be honest...they are a little small...

What do you think??
I may have to settle for now and save up for some other Lenso's i have my eye on....that way i could use these as winter wheels.
Comments appreciated, can't believe how simple the problem was!! fixed for free aswell!!
