AND A BIG HELP.

I HAVE A FIESTA 1.6SI, (LOVE THE CAR BY THE WAY) ANYWAY I HAVE ARATHER MAJOR PROBLEM

PROB 1, WENT OVER A SPEED RAMP AND BROKE A DRIVE SHAFT, WAS ONLY DOINT 15MPH, CANT MOTOR OVER THEM AS ITS BIN LOWERED 40MM ANYWAY

AM QUITE A COMPITANT MECHANIC ( RESTORED MINIS AND MG'S)

DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL NEAR SIDE, HAS COME OFF ON OUTER BUT INNER IS JAMMED INTO GEARBOX SO HOW DO I SPLIT THEM.

DRIVERS SIDE, AND HERE LIES A BOX FULL OF PROBS, THE DRIVE SHAFT IS JAMMED SOLID ON THE HUB, HAVE TRIED PENETROL, HEAVY HAMMER, GET THIS A PULLER, THATS SHATTERED MY BRAKE DISC, SO MORE EXPENSE. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW I CAN GET THIS SHAFT OUT OF THE HUB PLEASE, AM CLOSE TO REMOVEING THE STRUT, AND GETTING A TORCH ON IT

the way ive got the cv cups out of the gearbox is with a hammer and punch with the gearbox on the table.
what you can do is seperate the drive shaft and cv jont out of the cv cup.
i have a spare set of hubs and drive shafts if you need them

as said above i tried and tried to get the Drive shaft out of the gearbox with no joy in the end left the CV cup part in the gearbox and removed replaced the driveshaft/CV spider just needed a new clip around the gater

weird as the cup bit in my gearbox it just falls out if i drive the car after a while i have done about 500 miles in my si and it has come out 3 times

there should be a little metal cir clip that fits into the recess of the cv cup shaft about 3/4 of the way down.
if this is missing then that might be why it keeps falling out

i have changed the circlip and gearbox still comes out wil have to try gearbox mounts next i think

heel bar or a large screwdriver gets them out of the gearbox buddy...as for the hub end. my suggestion would be. take the hub off the car. and put it in a vice. ive used big gearbox bearing pullers to give it a decent seat the ones ive got out ive used either a 7lb copper mallet..which normally does it without burring them over....or...in one case i had to use a press...i think it got to about 20t before it let go! provided you support things properly its not a problem...dont gas axe it...the heat transfer wont do the bearings any good.
