its actually on the end of the dash on the passenger side.... and its a total arse to get at and not wreck the box with the dash in..i have tried :D

thats pretty much what you need but you need to make sure you get alternator mounting bracket off a powersteering zetec engine

the xr3i 130 spec has the same inlet manifold, cams and tb as the fiesta rs1800 only on later escorts did they use a plastic manifold

you also want to get powersteering pipes and oil cooler

oh and also you need to get a zetec cross member as it has the mounts for exhaust on it

you dont need to change your car loom.

just use a zetec engine loom, it will plug into your car loom. maybe a few pin changes but thats it.

riteo so i now have:

115 spec 1.8 zetec
1.8 box

only thing is i have these escort parts( can anyone tell me if these will work or will i need the fiesta 1s?):

Alternator
PAS Pump and the bracket to hold both
Exhaust manifold
Plastic inlet manifold and inlet pipe
1.8 escort gti Maf
starter motor
ECU - JEST code
Loom - not sure if its just engine thou
clutch and flywheel - ill put a new clutch in anyway.
think i got the mounts
coilpack and leads
a few coolant pipes aswel

theres probs other bits aswel but like i said they are from an escort gti so im pretty sure things are gona work on a fiesta???

hey mate, what ive done for my mk4 while fitting the 1800 105ps from an LX escort is integrated a Si 1.6 loom into the mk4 wiring, this wont be no where near as hard for yours as its a mk3 and it has a much simpler wiring layout, how ever im not sure how you can join the 1.6 si engine loom to the 1.4 car loom

unless you have the exsact right key for that JEST ecu you likely wont be able to use it, i had the same ecu as that and had to dump it for a 1.8 mondeo BLOB ECU, the engine runs fine and its a pre PATS ecu also internal

the 2FBC etc ECUs are external edis and are non compliant with the later zetecs which you most definately have being the GTi engine (trust me lol ive tried one of the 2FBC ecus from a 1992 mk5 1.8 escort and it wouldn't even crank the engine :red: )


also, its a very good idea to source a RS1800 or XR3i HO cast inlet before fitting this engine, it will be very tight with the plastic GTi inlet and will complecate things when you come to swap it for the bigger HO one, so its best to do it now the engine is out of the car ;)

apart from that the Zetec engine mount should fit to your exsisting bracket by drilling a suitable sized hole an inch from the orginal hole towards the windscreen


another thing i would have gone for the 1.6 Si or even you current 1.4 gearbox over the 1.8 one as the car would be alot quicker on acceleration then the 1.8, unless of course you want it to be more on topend, but this isnt the idea of a lightweight small hatchback :P

you may also need a 1.6 si radiator too depending ont he hose layout of a CVH one, im not sure as ive not owned a CVh'd car yet :hsugh:

when you planning on doing this? you dont live too far from me, id be happy to assist where and how i can ;)

also, as what paul said, you can splice the zetec grey play intot he CVH one, or just swap the wires on the car loom grey pluy, i had to make my own in the mk4 and wiring in the Temp and Rev gauges on the clocks myself, the XR2i should have a very similar wiring design ont his, if so you should be able to fallow andy's guide in his 2.0l conversion guide on FG


also, the zetec grey play may have 12 pins, but remember the last 3 pins (9-12) are disused ;)

personally id just get the 1.8 in and running normal for now, then think about carbs or what have you
