in some ways your right yes, but if you buy a good one first and make sure when you buy it that every mod is documented and there are reciepts etc then you should be ok
they dont have too be money pits if you dont let them be
, yes it costs a bit too run and maintain, but its a 20yr old car its too be expected and i knew this when i bought mine, i'm managing too still run and maintain mine on a 2 day working week wage, which imo is pretty good
and still have money left too pay my bills and go out and do what i want( i'll admit i live at home and my out goings aint massive but still

if something goes wrong and you dont know how or know of mates that know how too help and fix the issue then it can/will work out too be expensive, until my camblet went it was spot on, strated first time every time
cambelt failure i am pretty sure was down to my tensioner failing, which i had no idea about nor would my mate iof know if he still owned it, one of those things really, i got down about it, but knuckled down sourced bits over a few months, cost me near on 1k too have the top end re-done, thats with doing all the work ourselve's
yes i agree for what i paid for mine i could have bought one with a rebuilt engine, but not knowing a cars history is scary, i bought mine off a mate and i knew of the car for about 2 years before i bought it, i knew it was maintained well adn looked afer and what ever it needed it got, no questions asked, saved me a packet thats for sure
wasn't so much the boost that i was suduced by as i wanted one before i got a taste for boost, its the iconic status and respect i get on the road from people that know what it is and what its capable of
i could of got far better cars for my money but nothing else really floated my boat at the time
cheaper too maintain cars FTW! crack is more than likely far cheaper that for sure

, so i nver use too use mine purely because of this reason, never use too let my fans kick in for too long so use too switch the car off as soon as they did kick in
