Good idea, with instant replies I could make Meilack see sense so much quicker  .... or at lease try and give up quicker.

S'aite dude.

I think the fiesta ST is a great car. despite the issues i've had with mine

Insurance doesnt bother me as mines cheap as chips.
I like the aesthetic of it.
I drive it to work and can safely overtake.
It has enough room for 5 people plus shopping.

I cant see any reason to suggest its a bad car at all, and i think the handling is brilliant and power ample, and despite the comparison to a god-like C2 or 2.0 Clio I know of little people who really push their cars through the corners during day to day driving, as a result its a pointless arguement. :)

as Adam says, it is his choice, it shouldnt be offensive, though i do wish he had kept the xr2i

Sorry Meilack you are like my favorite wind up toy, a few twists and off you go.

I have no intention of tuning my C2 to be faster than an ST, it may happen in the long run but thats a side issue.

All I want you to do is admit there is better cars which you chose not to buy because you are in love with the blur oval.

I do give up trying to educate you on these matters, personally I have learnt to look at all cars when buying. In my last purchase had my lloking at 4 cars:

Fiesta ST
Clio Sport
C2 VTS
Swift Sport

I actually took the C2 and Swift for a test drive and the C2 felt slightly better and costs less :)

My problem is that if could say you had looked at 3 or 4 other cars properly and say you bought the ST due to xyz then that would be great but you don't seem to do that.

Ultimately you are the one missing out here by having a closed mind, of course the selection criteria will be different for everybody and people will pick different cars from what i have listed above (or have a different selection alltogether). But I can at least say I have made an informed decision considering all the options.

Its your money to waste, so waste it how youy please. :)

fine i chose another ST due to the reason's Op has stated, i like the noise they make (especially with a K+N and exhaust) and the fact that i liked how my old one handled and drove minus the bits that kept falling off :hmm: and as i have already stated, i wanted a red one in the first place and now have a red one. I am not close minded on just buying fords. I had a 306 D turbo and loved it until the headgasket popped and i had to sell it :(

Hell my next car might be a clio sport?!?! but i am getting a little hacked off. Trying to educate me on what exactly? I know perfectly well how a Clio sport drives, and if i could have found one in this area that was not stupidly overpriced at a dealer i would have seriously considered it :) (although i like a car with a powerband of more then 2000rpm ;) )

I don't like suzuki swifts, thats just a personal thing, but i am sure/aware that they are good cars :)

The styling of the front end of a C2 is not my cup of tea hence why i never have considered one

I was familiar with the ST and how it drives etc

like i have said before: IT IS NOT PERFECT AND THERE ARE FASTER HATCHES I COULD HAVE BROUGHT but i didn't and i really can't see why it affects you so much :hmm:

Wind up toy? i just get pissed off withn people not accepting what i do :) and the continuous its a ford there's always better approach.....like Op said hardly anyone can push their cars to the limits to which makes a clio sport that much better then a fiesta ST or otherwise in the corners. (scott being an exception :P ) if i had a lump of money to go and get a car with i would not have neccesarily brought a car that is 4 years old, and newer fords of the zetec s era are not to my liking so it would have been something else? happy?

I got this ST on a good deal. I plan to pay off the finance so i'm not tied to it for 4 years ;) with the money my parents owe me and my next car won't be a ford for a few reasons:

1) the older ones which i love are getting to old to have as a daily car
2) minus the fiesta ST newer fords don't really appeal or are to much to run
3) I had a list of cars (fords) i wanted to own, and now i can say that minus an RST or a cossie i have owned a fair few decent fords
4) I am a fan of other cars, you have never seen me slate another manufacturer on here. _ginge_ 's civic was awesome and i loved it :) The clio V6 i was given the pleasure of a passenger ride in was immense and i really fail to see why they aren't regarded as highly as the sports/cups as i thought it was awesome

Yes i am a ford fan and nothing will change that, but i will not just own fords for my life but i will still go to ford shows when i decide that a change is needed :)

I want to do a few things to this ST that have been listed already, drive it for a while and once the finance is paid off i will look at a few options :)

I would love a new focus RS but i can safely say that the chances of me owning one are slim :hsugh: :lolz:

I kept this quiet when i got my original Fiesta ST but i seriously considered buying an Ek9 Type R Civic, and even got a passenger ride in one but decided that the £7k price was a bit strong for a 10 year old civic when i got my brand new Fiesta ST at the time for £9370

Op the xr2i was a lovely car and i do miss it. It was at a stage where i didn't need to spend much on it but i worried about it to much in my area tbh, and at least it's in the care of a enthusiast who will hopefully restore it next summer :)

I do appreciate other marques of car, i don't want the otherwise preached on here as it is bullshit :)

My god i need some popcorn :P

Sorry percy but the best fiesta ever made in this day and age in terms of doing everything as a road car is the newest one, the mk7 i seriously tell you to take a teszt drive if you haven't already, i know the interior of your c2 isnt bad ( as i said i liked it  )

BUT if you arent too fussed about performance (ie you own a small car with a steady 1600 engine) then i'd suggest you have a look at a new Zetec-s

It will hold its value better than your C2 and ittl be more comfortable and more liveable i promise

However i think what meilack is trying to say is that by buying a citroen c2 you have bought the citroen badge which lets be honest is a rubbish badge, albeit Ford isn't exactly a brilliant one but its better and has a better choice of parts available to it, hence why the new fiesta is better as it makes more use of volvo parts, like the Focus started using :hmm:

And another point i can see is if you start modifying the C2 to allow it to keep up with a Fiesta ST, you will invalidate the warranty? and also increase insurance premiums fuel consumption and as a result the C2 will cost more to run and you may have just bought the Clio/fiesta ST? :P

Although a clio 172 is group 16 ins. And a clio 182 is group 17 ins, both do 4mpg less than the ST, and yet an ST has near as makes no difference the same amount of torque

Thats not going to detract though from the fact i think a clio 182 is a sexy looking little car  Saw one in renault dealer yesterday for 6500 in blue  and before you ask why i was in a renault dealer i was looking for a car for a friend :hmm: lol

still cant believe this is still going on  , like you i had the chioce of looking at evo's and scoob's etc when i had the money but i made a choice based on what i wanted and liked the most so i got my cossie and to be honest its cost be a bit to run and maintain but i knew all this before i bought it and it still didn't sway my decision

everyone is different, if we all got the same shit by god tihis world would be one fecking dull place

My point may have been lost again, in my case for picked the C2 for reasons explained previously. To people not living in Iraq insurance groups may not be an issue so the selection criteria will change.

To buy a C2 witht he plan of making it as fast as a ST would be possible but also silly. I really go for a car which fits with power requirements in the standard form, if I wanted 148bhp then i would have gone for the ST, but then at that point why bother when I could get the Clio.

As for the Mk7 zetec-s it is a truely amazing car if ford where earlier with it then it would have ended up in a head to head with the C2 and probably won and I would be driving one now. But as i now have the C2 and I have no intention of swapping it for the fiesta in the near future.

As mentioned I am not trying to say everybody should buy the C2, instantly I can see why the looks may put people off its not as powerful etc, on a similar basis I didn't bother with a yaris due to looks.

My point is I spent many hours researching many cars, firstly online from professional reviews and user opinions. I then look at facts and figures (0-60, insurance grp, tax etc). From this I can usually come up with a few cars to choose from to which I will then get more reviews and actually hunt down the cars and have a real look at each one.

It maybe the accountant in me which forces me to do this I will add.

But you can see this is a much more involved process than driving to ford and comparing a ka to fiesta and saying the the fiesta is better.

As for badges I can honestly say they make no difference, as mentioned Citroen isn't an amazing badge and that coupled with Saxo badge of my previous car really shows how much badges don't bother me.

It just strikes me as even if you do think of other cars there is a +100 because its a ford and a -100 because its not a ford.

Either way I can sit here quite happily knowing my car is better value on the bang/buck ratio which however you argue it that is the case.

Back to the statement, its your money to waste as you please.

you clearly have a chip on your shoulder, did you read what i said at all?

being a ford had nothing to do with me getting my new ST, read my points again and stop ranting

I didn't say anything about the citroen badge :hmm: and gave you reasons for and against the cars you suggested :)

The new fiesta is good, but i didn't want to spend that much as i said already.

Bottom line is i am not the only person with a Fiesta ST, won't be the last, and i am clearly not driving a crap car. I know it's not quite on the pedastal as the kings of hot hatches: Clio's and C2's ( )

I just said i had a list of cars i would like to own and they are not just fords believe me ;)

nice. glad you like it.

I think after much pondering I like my dash better.

what with its piano black facia with 2 stripes and red glowing dials. however I miss the trip computer and outside temp warning and your steering wheel is nicer.

we shall have to compare one day.
