Today I fiddled with the god damn heater solinoid.

WHY OH WHY DID FORD MAKE THIS SHITE DESIGN???

MK3 Fiestas used a lovely method of heaters... hot water ciculates from the engine around the heater matrix. You select how hot you want your heaters and it opens a flap to allow the air to go through the matrix and out your vents. If you want it cold, it closes the flap and the air doesnt go through the hot matrix.

MK4 onwards... water doesnt go through the matrix constantly, once you select a hot setting it tells an electronic soilinoid to allow the hot water to ciculate into the heater matrix.
Although these fail all the time.
I replaced mine (with a 2nd hand one of course) and it worked.
One day later I am now stuck on cold

So my option is... hope I can take it apart and clean it, or just bypass the bloody thing with 2 pipes and have constantly hot heaters (which isnt so bad this time of year.. but I dont like a roasting hot car on a long journey!)

started it for the first time since saturday morning, as i rarely wasn't driving , and was met by a cloud of smoke but the stem seal tool is on the way, so they should be fixed soon

I think I am causing my car more harm than anything else, I am still running it (250 miles a week) with ruined steam seals...

My dad's building a tool for it. lol. They will be fixed for me sometime next week while I'm in Amsterdam. Wish I could do it with him but Amsterdam allows him to play with it for a week, so god knows what will be changed on it when I get back.

Yesterday I washed it. Then accidentally ended up offroad. So..

Today I washed it again.

slapped an alternator on the daily...it finally shit its pants....at 1am as i was leaving work!......pinched van. came home and raided my spares selection. went back fitted it and came home...crawled back in the door at 4.30am

it was either that or really ruin my morning doing it now...

discovered yesterday it's my o/s balljoint thats fucked, so need a new one pronto. Think I'm gonna get a few GrpN mounts too for the crack!

Fitting those bad boys soon!

well this new ford one was a bitch to put on, i had to force it

yes i know, but i need to fix the rocker cover gasket and stem seals

Cleaned it but didn't have time to Hoover or polish it so won't be gleaming for tomorrows meet I'm afraid

tried to progress in getting it finished.... and failed
