Does sound to be a decent car, I would go for it.

Things to check.

1, open the oil cap, if there is a lot of white(ish) stuff in there run away.

2, any smoke form the exhaust? there may be some condensation (white) when first starting, but nothing else.

3, see if there was any advisories on the MOT, there is a box on the pass sheet to show if there should be the yellow sheet attached , if it says there should be one and its not attached ask why not.

4, ask why its being sold, but do consider some people are naturally nervous so don't think they are lying all the time.

The rest is common sense it many respects, just look it over, go for a test drive if possible, even as a pessenger if your insurance doesn't allow and listen for sounds which don't sound right.

On the flip side if you are getting it cheap don't expect perfection.

This is in a road right across from me its cheap.. Looks alright im in such a bad position, if the 106 and the clio sell im fucked. I need a car by tommorow to be honest. I dunno whether to risk the clio, or try and get hold of the 106 more, but if the 106 goes tonight then im screwed, I can't find out what time the have someone viewing tonight if the dont answer there phone and I want to view before the other person give them cash and drive the damn thing away!

Going up there at 4:30 to look it over and i'll pay the full £400 if its good enough!

only thing is the noisy thrust bearing which im hoping isnt serious. apart from that it looks good, So im off out to get it!

106 would have been a money pit.
Cambelt was done at 60,000 and not touched since and it was at 112,000 so needs one of them.
Gearbox rattle from thrust bearing that would be expensive
and a small oil leak couldn't see by leaking but I know what happened to my last car..
And as he reversed into the drive it had a passenger door dent.
Clutch was really low, hard to get in gear as well.

On the lookout for a car! Lol should have got the Clio probably would have had the same troubles though.

i think the thrust bearing is in the gear box

im not sure but i think it pushed the clutch against the plate to make it bite but and it most prob makes a rattle.

My last chance is a cheap saxo or it's going to be an old sunny or micra probably

the fiesta is going to be sold off whole. I haven't got the room to break it, so it'll be on eBay soon if someone wants a 1.6 on the road for a couple hundred depending on what you mechanical skills are like.

Still so very gutted. Testing that 106 today I just felt ruined. I want my fiesta back

Saxos's are good little cars, being a 1.1 it won't be as refined as my VTS was, but they do actually feel quite similar to a fiesta in views and size etc.

He saxo is a 1.0 which is even worse lol it's has 24 bids, £320, 4 days left and unless by some miracle I can view it (it's 45 mins away and my friend can take me but not til friday!) and they acccept £400 then I'll have it. I now own a blue 106 key largo.
Practically white roof , all discloured. 4 speed. 1.0 absolute shed . Worst car I plan on ever owning. I actually wanted the sunny and would have preferred it but the owners lost the service history and the registration documents and I couldn't survive without a car.
8 months tax 8 months MOT. 68000 miles. Not bad for £320. I hate it, but it will do as a cheap runabout as it better be bloody reliable or a few months
