You got any pics of the hole in the engine? Just a curious morbid fascination!!

Not that it's worth anything, but it sounds to me like your oil pump has seized and starved the engine of oil. That will very quickly start tapping and rattling then throw bits everywhere!

Front, as you look underneath the front bumper its right there in your face.

If it was an oil problem I would guess the dash light would have come on.

I would check there is a bulb in it, it should show if you turn the ignition on.

If thats missing then I would guess the previous owner knew about a problem and removed the bulb to hide it.

Back to a previous post I really would recommend spending a bit more on a car and getting something decent, yes £1000 on a credit card isn't the best way to finance a car but I am sure you could pay it back pretty quickly, you could get rid a of a good part of the balance by breaking the fiesta and paying everything you get back off the card straight away.

I say this as if you buy a car for £300 how long will it be before the credit card has to come out to fix something?

I see your point very much, But its getting hold of £900 and my mother allowing me to use my credit card, which she wont.

And paying it back isn't going to easy as were on winter hours at work, im getting about 24 hours a week? at £6.20 an hour.. you do the math.
And also interest on my credit card comes up this month, at 19.9%. Do i want to be paying back £300 for nothing..?

It all comes down to financial stability which right now I dont have. But I think you'll agree at this car. Which is £400 ono right next to my house and I am going to view tommorow hopefully.

I need a cheap reliable runabout, that I probably wont be modding, definately until I have paid off all debts and once everythings done, ill get some money behind me and then think about getting back into the scene, by then I should be a mechanic in training which will make things so much easier. Hey i'm still young and you'll definately be seeing me with another si sooner rather than later.

Breaking the si is happening as well, just working out prices for parts I can see and could take off.. Its difficult as i haven't much idea about how to break a car or what any parts are, so most will go on ebay or if people know parts they need they'll have to come and get them off themselves.

There is 2 schools of thought on this:

1, Don't go into debt, which certainly is good advice.

2, Buy bad, buy twice.

Here's an interesting sum for you, £1000 for a year will cost less than £200 in a year.

£300 on a lemon is £300 down the drain.

Saying that, if i remember correctly you don't have any no claims yet? in that case if you buy cheap runaround I would recommend you run it into the ground and only consider getting rid of it if you start having problems. In the mean time if you clear debts and get saving for a better car it will be a win all round.

This all just rides on the cheap car not being a lemon, which I will admit that not all cheap cars are.

I understand completley what you saying. but I just want a cheap runabout that yes I will run down to the ground to help me get back on my feet. the fiesta has royally fucked me over and its not good!

I shouldn't have gone into debt in the first place, the car was good, I had it all planned on how to pay it off, if just never works like that. by the looks of the car ( have you looked? ) Elderly owner and 12 months MOT I should think there aren't really any serious problems with it at all.

Interesting point about the oil light on the fiesta though as the light never came on and the RAC man said it looks like it wasn't working. So I had no chance of knowing really.

Yeah theres an auction place nearby but dosen't go on til friday, just trying to get hold of the seller now to get this 106.
I phoned asking about viewing tommorow and they said someone is going to look at it tonight So I want to view it at 4:30 like he originally said, I phoned 10 minuites ago and there not answering now!
Anything specific anyone knows i should check on with 106's? From the ebay link you can see its in pretty mint condition so it should be alright. Just need a cheap runabout before work tommorow night!
