to me it looks like you have no EGR!

so for now i'd roll that pipe up, and put it out of harms way, but put a bolt/screw that fits snuggly in the end of it as its meant to blocked off according to the guide

i'll have a look at it if you come to the RR day

Lol what is an EGR then? its just hanging around at the moment where the airbox used to be, I'll put it somewhere safer soon.

I will be at the southern RR day for sure. Gonna make a special effort as its nearby

not exactly sure what it does, its something to do with the exhasut gases and the cat i think

all i know is its a waste of space and gets in the way when you need to change the CPS

i removed mine and it seemed to remove a flat spot in my rev range

must say tho, your engine bay looks pretty damn clean and like new

120,000+ on the car

I think now.. 38300 miles ish. I bought it on "35000" a few weeks ago

The bay is clean, The fuel filter looks a bit ancient though.

I won the battle against the top hose (or rather a random stranger did it in second for me) to celebrate I gave her a wash in time for modified madness tommorow.

Went to modified madness. Then went to halfords as I couldn't run with an oil leak. Got some "wynn engine stop leak" which seemed to have worked.
Ragggggged it. Lost to two subarus and some older thing.. No idea how a 1.6 lost to a 2.0turbo. But I did get consistent 18secs and 77mph from all three runs. Didn't realise I was being timed so didn't take out my superchip. I tried to get car to pop but it wouldn't.
Did some handbrake turns in the car park.. Was quite good on a gravel sort of Tarmac.

I am currently sat on my bonnet awaiting the RAC flatbed.

Drove it home from work at 4am and it developed a tapping noise. So as I was driving it to a mates garage anyway I thought I'd take it to see what was wrong. It got worse

I'm only about 2 miles from my home. Car was going crazy 1st - 2nd crunched so I thought oh dear and pulled over. Engine oil all over the floor. Manifold smoking. Engine literally shaking with the tapping noise

how lucky an RAC should pull in very quickly to check his next job I flagged him down real quick and in his words "your engine is fucked" so I'm sat on my bonnet awaiting a flatbed

so until I get a decent analysis, I dunno whether I'll be looking for a cheap runabout, or I'll be trying to fix this. There's a 1.6 zetec up ther scrappy by me (maybe) but it ain't an easy job swappng engines. No matter what it's going to cost a bomb to fix, and it's fucked I guess I runs and moves, but with a terrible knock and smoke and everything

You sure its the engine, why would the gearbox crunch if it was the engine, you sure the box/clutch hasn't gone, causing oil to spit out onto the manifold?

Whats the oil level like in the Engine? When was it last checked/changed?

Can you see any holes in the side of the engine?

Where abouts is the tapping, top of the engine or the bottom?
