I can't undo the fez's left lower arm bolts, spent hours trying with wd40, silicone oil, engine oil etc and they don't want to come out, tried tapping at them and still no luck.

Does any1 have any suggestions?, I really need to get the new arm on as the banging is getting quite bad, plus its making the car scary to drive in the rain.. nearly span whilst crawling round a roundabout due to having no grip on the left wheel

Am thinking of cutting through the bearings and bolts and trying to pull the thing off but I need the car working to get home afterwards :D , only other way I can see is taking off the whole bracket and going from there, though I get the feeling the bracket bolts will be seized aswell..

Cheers

You mean the 2 bolts that hold the lower arm to the subframe? I would get a lever bar/breaker bar on them, they will come out then! Or, use heat as said. Normally, a good soak and a big bar on them, will come out a treat.

You might be surprised at how easy the assembly holding the lower arms in comes out.

I had to take mines out to replace one of my arms and it was a shed load easier than the other arm!!

Paul

8 painful hours and.. the new wishbone is in ...

And it still sounds awful, now instead of the banging it sounds like its scraping, especially around corners.. I did hammer the ball joint in a bit ..erm in a tired manic I want to get home way??

Also I should have followed the haynes, tried to do it without taking out bracket  didn't go well..

The drop link bolt and nut turn at the same time.. is that supposed to happen,.. maybe I have a fooked drop link...

Flame worked, still took two people and a lot of swearing though :sigh:

I'm sooo tired, tired as in it got to the point where I couldn't hold up the torque wrench and kept forgetting how much 90 degrees was. . 37 ft/lbs then 90 isn't very tight, maybe I need to do them more....

Have got drop links on the way, they have rusted to bits and separated from their bolts somehow so definitely need doing. How would I go about checking the suspension?, the mount I take it I just look for deterioration?

Thanks.

I couldn't find anything on mine

O well, it'll have shiny new ones soon, which will hopefully stop it handling like a plate of jelly. :)

But the drop links on today, and the handling has massively improved, especially the tracking :)

However the left side suspension where I changed the lower arm still bangs all the time when it hits the slightest bump :frown: tyre squeals a little when accelerating or changing in the lower gears too..

:?

Suspension and rubber mount looked ok, though tbh I don't really know what I'm looking for.

I took the car out yesterday to have a listen/think, and it seems like the squeal is actually when I depress the clutch, but also when I take my foot off the accelerator. Tracking does need doing though, one of the tyres has masses of wear on inside edge :( .

Knocking is like a low thudding noise over drain covers, I noticed there's a lot of play in the front anti roll bar, but really out of cash now so will have to wait, need new discs first.

Replace the ARB bushes, that'll sort you're knocking noise.

Pretty cheap from Ford, couple of days order. Or get some off of ebay!
