small update here on my 2.0 si

the car wasnt running very well just before i took it off the road the temperature gauge nearly hit the red so i decided to take the car off the road that day to prevent further damage

at the moment when running it misfires the exhaust puffs and wobbles and the oil cap now has white mayonaise look to it so im pretty sure its cooked the headgasket

so far since being off the road ive changed the thermostat and put in some genuine ford ht leads which made no difference

but on the plus side the power steering leak has stopped leaking well all the fluid has leaked out now anyway the steering is rock solid

im ditching the power steering all together (less chances of leaks plus has a better feel for the road)

so i have got to buy

buy a new genuine ford headgasket set
samco hoses ( new hoses less chances of leaks)
new anti freeze
oil filter
oil 5w 30
cam belt
xr2i 1.8 16v alternator belt
manual column
rs turbo steering rack

so far i have the 1.8 16v xr2i alternator bracket



im going to clean it up and paint it ready for the conversion

plan is once the cylinder head is off to be skimmed is to do the steering conversion

the runabout car has good but needed a few more parts to make it better

new temperture gauge sender
new drive belt and alternator belt
new geabox mounts and brand new exhaust
and complete gmax 40mm kit now fitted
cv gaitor
detail strips on the bumpers all fitted

drives really well now heres a few pics





just gotta find all the parts now

Hey phil, genuine ford head set must cost a bomb. Try getting a good quality set from a motor factors. I get mine from my work as separates cos ive got a mix and match of heads/manifolds/rocker covers etc. Tbh, the most important one i think is head gasket, im pretty picky on that and only use Rienze head gaskets.

Non PAS is much better

Well I tried at my local dealer and they said they are on back order and I kept asking if they had come in yet but still nothing now 8 weeks later!

Luckily tho, was driving past a huge ford dealer in warrington a few weeks back and thought I may as well pop in and see, and thank god they had 4 left in stock, so took them and cleared their stocks out too!

got my mk3 stronger boot struts fitted and now opens on the remote control or via the boot realease button and yesterday i gave the si a good clean inside and out fitted bigger wheel spaces to the front and have some new arch liners to go on just a few pics
