Ok as some of you know I have a pretty clean engine, all apart from the fuel filter. It looks ancient, what I want to know is whether or not it would make much difference putting a new one in (£4.50ish from eBay) and is it an easy job to change?
I'd like to get it just to make the engine all up to a clean standard like it is, but won't so it in such a hurry if it's not going to make any difference at all.

as you say a new filter will look like new rather than old, as for fitting its straight forward, push fit connectors and a bolt in the bulkhead, will spill a little bit of fuel when you remove it but no problems with having to bleed the new one or anything.

Remember to bleed the fuel system afterwards.

Prime the pump a few times with the key, then press the nipple on the end of the fuel rail to get any air out (be careful not to spray it in your face) then bam you should be ready to go.

I've always wondered if you should starve the engine of fuel first using the cut off switch before changing filters, then bleed after?, guess it doesn't make a difference really?

I may do this next weekend if I can get a decent filter, my last ebay filter led to a dead fiesta  ahem that and a shy oil light. and me not checking oil levels

Nah some guy selling a single one £3.50 postage and it's at 99p, it says "new" and he's not sure if it's been tested before or whatever. It looks better than mine so I don't care to much :P

EDIT unless the ones from raceparts on eBay are better there buy it now at like £1 more..

Ha the auction was for four :o , the ones I got are 6-8mm fitment, I think the fiesta's pipes are 8 so should be ok, a lot of universal ones are 8mm.

I don't know about fitting, I need to have a look tomorrow whilst doing everything else the fiesta needs :( , my cold air feed fell off today so gotta do that too.

Take it you have the k&n one too then  I don't get how they figured a non existent deflector hole and two cable ties could hold a tube securely  My cold air feed used to point towards the wheel and at the battery :hsugh:

I think its just a push fit jubilee clip fitting.

cool probably go for the universal one then if there that easy to fit.

Yes k&n I ignored all the bits. I did the unmanly thing and look at the instructions, now I understand why everyone else dosent bother.. I faced it frontways to the left of the headlight, but then when I put the bonnet down it covere it :P I might have a proper good look and see if I can do something good, but all you can seem to do is a bodge.

The clear ones I got didn't fit :(

I will look up the blue one, should fit if it has a 8mm(I think) straight shaft, the ones I bought have a tapered proper push fit.. so didn't fit.

That's why I'm always weary of universal stuff nowadays.
I'll be buying that blue alloy one. So don't bid :D
