Only a quick question, ive got a leak from a seal somewhere on the gearbox. Never messed with oil in the gearbox before. Can anyone tell me where abouts i top it up or atleast a way of checking the oil level in there. Getting some whining in the box so just wanted to top it up until i can get the seals sorted.

iirc there is a nut on the passenger side of the gearbox near that breather pipe thingy, thats where jamie and i filled his up

umm.. we just topped it up untill it started coming out the hole

as for draining it, i'm not sure, check the online hanynes

no drain hole on a bc box

you have to take it off

or take the driveshaft out of one side and jack up the other

Thanks, yer i've found the plug you highlighted in the pic. I dont want to drain it though just top it up. Any particular grade\brand of oil i should use or just that universal gearbox stuff. Its ERST LSD gearbox if that makes any difference ?

managed to get the plug off that Terry was on about, started pouring in the oil and it was pissing out the passenger driveshaft where it meets the gearbox as quick as i was pouring it in. This would explain why the gerabox isnt holding oil and my mystery oil leak. This mean new driveshaft or just a case of getting a new seal or something ? Looks like the driveshaft has come away from the box ? can anyone explain the pics ?

Managed to push the driveshaft back in fairly easy but wont it just as easy pop back out again when driving ?

shouldnt do matey if its on the circlips then it should stay in there did you pull it back to see if it was in place and you can tell if its griped again

yeah probly something like that as it only needs a shape solid tug to bring it out but i would think it would stay in as its only same as taking it out to do a clutch or something along them lines

ermmm not to sure think its possoblly the gearbox as there a slit in the drive shaft for them im sure someone here will tell you definattly

your drive way sounds a bit like mine oil all over it by any chance

Its because your car is lowered i rekon. how much is the drop on it ?

Its probably made worse by something worn or wearing... ie a mount or bush etc
