Hi there, i've just put a DESK ecu into my 2ltr Si and it seems to feel slower. I was running the GURU 1.6 ecu for a couple of days and it felt alot quicker than it does now!

Can anyone help me with what i could do? as it did run abit lumpy on the 1.6 ecu and runs smooth on the 2ltr ecu but doesn't pull nothing like it did on the 1.6 ecu!!!!

please help!!

try re-setting the ecu again by disconnecting the battery for an hr or so then connect it back up and let the ecu learn it bits, then go take the car for a good thrash

only other thing i can think of is that its now fueling correctly throught the rev range and the smoothness is making it feel slower :?

I'l disconnect the battery and let it sort itself out then give it a trashin!

and yes im using the 2ltr MAF that came off the mondeo i got the engine out of

ok i disconnected the battery for a hour and let it idle for a while then took it out for a hour or so and its still nothing like it was when the 1.6 ecu was on!

shall i just put the 1.6 ecu back on it?

no i'd keep the 2.0 ecu on, as it'll be fueling correctly, the 1.6 ecu iirc tends to under fuel at the top end!

does the car run ok other than feeling slower?

just a thought, im still running the 1.6 inlet manifold and sandwich plate, do you think this could be holding it back on the 2ltr ecu? also im using the 2ltr injectors.

Get a rs1800 inlet or a xr2i 1.8 one if you cant find a rs one. that will help.

Make sure you using a 2.0 throttle body
make sure your using the 2.0 maf and housing.
make sure your using 2.0 injectors
sandwhich plates are all the same

If when you put the 2.0 ecu in it makes it worse, its highlighting a problem elsewhere, usually. (unless the ecu is fubared) Check all your sensors. TPS, air temp sensor, coolant temp sensor, cam/crank sensor, lambda, maybe even the maf is dead?

If you think its down on power, and taking a while to rev, check the timing.

If you use the 1.6 ecu you will be underfueling the engine. Putting a superchip on will not sort it out, the ecu wont have clue whats going on then!

cheers for the help guys, i wrote a typo its a 1.8 inlet off a escort if thats any help? the ports look bigger on this 1 is the rs1800 even bigger still?

and its running sweet as a nut on the 1.6 ecu went through mot no problem they even said it was a sweet running motor. i hope its not a dead ecu the bloody thing cost enough! how can i get it checked?
