Firstly are you running a 1600? if so as paul said might not be a great increase in power, might get as much, if any by fitting a larger RS1800 throttle body @55mm dia.
think my increase in bhp is helped by the total cross section area of the four individual throttle bodies is 3200 square mm, 45% larger than the previously fitted RS1800 @ 2200mm square.
What ive done is use the standard injectors and sandwich plate and made a manifold to fit the throttle bodies, its possible that you can cut down the standard inlet manifold to mount the throttle bodies with flexi hoses but i would say it would be very difficult on space especially if you want a plenum to use the standard ECU

as you can see from the design of the manifold its ok to cut down but may not be angled up enough to clear the bulkhead to fit a plenum, ive seen it done when running open throttle bodies/filter without a plenum though and replacement ECU
