needed a gearbox oil seal for the driveshaft

Image

£4-odds :hmm:

closest is my latest loom, followed by my original 1.1 loom which i now know i could have used, but didnt at the time when i butchered it when i took it out, then the si interior loom

Image

next i had to make a sub loom to join the engine loom to the interior loom

Image

Image

Image

finally got my egr blanking pins

Image

also got what i thought was the drive belt i needed, guess what? it was'nt!

Image

i then had to make a fuel pump relay and fuse, easy enough

Image

i then "tested" the tank/pump by putting some water in it (i know what im doing :D )

Image

Image

when the ignition is on the pump does pump out the water, i thought it would only pump initially to "prime" but it does'nt it keeps going, not sure what will happen when i connect the fuel lines and sit with the ignition on? :?

a general shot of the interior as it currently stands

Image

Image

i still need to:

connect the driver side driveshaft
get the correct drive belt
a couple of coolant hoses

and the tube/hose between the TB and MAF.

as far as i know the fuel pump will keep pumping untill pressure builds up in the fuel lines, so if your just pumping it from the tank into a bucket it will keep pumping as there is no pressure building up, stick a blacking plug or even your tumb over the hose your useing and see if it stops primeing

Just one thing i noticed, did you get the copper washers to go behind the EGR plugs?

Just a thought, or your gonna struggle to get a seal i would have thought.

well that belts too fooking long :x

gona take it back and see if they'll swap it for a shorter 1, not sure if they will or ont seeing as i've already taken it back once before!

managed to get all the hoses connected, had to join a couple of other hoses i had lying about as i had 2 missing

had to make the metal 1 that crosses the rad.

Image

Image

Image

done a pretty good job a reckon 8-)

then filled up with water only too find:

Image

Image

the hose that connects the rad/water pump/header tank has leak on the header tanks pipe

Image

and the other leak is coming from the bottom on the rad :x , dont know exactly where as i could'nt see but im pretty sure its from the bottom and not from the top running down

mine seems to be loosing a bit since putting back together, i rekon I'll take a gamble with a tub of radweld. Is yours a fast leak or just "seaping?"

If you have plenty of gun gum behind those plugs i would have thought it would be ok. Reading thru your post got me going today! Undersealed the rear end of her, and pulled the glass out ready for paint. Need some proper inspiration tomorrow for a day of sanding.........

its not pissing out like a tap but its not too slow either so the rads to come off so i can see exactl ouldnt say it was a drip either, i'd imagine it would get faster when the engines running.

tbh i just want it on the road now, then when the mot is due next year i have a special treat for her, but thats still atleast a year away :D

right, the aux belt

1st 916, well to small
2nd 1000, just too small
3rd 1075, well too big (dunno why i opted for this!)
4rth 1025, too big
5th 1013, finally got it on, had to remove the front engine mount (top half), release the tension on the tensioner as much as i possible could and i manage to get it on, took me about 10 minutes to get all the ribs on, but its finally done!

connected the fuel lines, needed to make some adjustments to the lines as the zetec-s tank has the filter bolted onto it and not in the engine bay as per the si

connected the battery (which had been on charge)

turned her over and she struggled to turn over! checked the voltage and its 12.3 so its got a charge but it sounds like the battery istruggling, might i need a bigger battery as this was the 1 off my old 1.1?

on another note, when i turn the ignition on i can hear what i thought was a hissing, on closer inspection its more like when u have a hose with water in it and there's a leak and u can hear it bubbling as it escapes.

this is coming from the 4rth injector area, around here

Image

also i dont have the plug in at the left hand side of the rad as im not sure what goes in there, the only 1 i can think of is this 1, this came from the thermostat on my old engine, its got a black and a black/red wire.

Image

sorry about pic quality but i only had my fone with me.

ok, im still not getting a spark at the plug, this is despite the fact ive changed the coilpack and cps sensor, so, according to the folks on xrtwo i need to change the cps housing in order for it to work with the si flywheel, ive never heard anyone mention that they did it when there did there's on here, but im all out of idea's so i'll give it a go.

so im now gona have to remove the starter, driveshaft, gearlinkage, gearbox and the flywheel! :x

Did your engine come off a automatic mondeo as you do need to change the housing as it doesn't line up with fiesta flywheel
These pics should give you an idea
auto one

One on right is what you should use

also that blue plug fits onto radiator left side
