Like I say, they have been run at 330bhp, reliably, but it's far from ideal for day to day driving. Keeps the pipe run short so boosts up slightly quicker than a front mount.

If he's still adamant they won't go past 240bhp, ask him to explain mine which I can prove anytime

My mates old black one was running 350bhp but I know he had loads of work done on it, and was always under the bonnet adjusting/fixing stuff.

You don't need to do alot of work to get them to 350bhp to be honest. Standard internals can cope with that. Anything above that and you need forged items.

It's an enthusiasts car for sure, there's always something to be doing with them, but that's the fun part

Naah, it's the same as other Jap cars, well those which are looked after. Oil and filter every 3-5k miles, gearbox and diff oils every year, sparks, dizzy cap and rotor arm every year, and that's pretty much it. They're not as bad as is made out really, it's just that if you want to keep it all running smooth and nice, you use more expensive stuff. The oil I use is Silkolene Pro S 10-50 which is around the £50 mark for 5 litres.

And Scotts metaphor is perfect, and made me lol! The reason imports are more is because insurance companies will consider it harder to get parts for a car that's imported as they may well differ to those found on the UK equivalent if it has one.
