just a quick question, i know that the puma conversion is the most popular engine change for the mk 4, but is their a reason why people dont fit 2ltr zetecs. my guess is it might not fit for some reason? puma engines are a rareity to find these days, so what other transplants would peopl rekomend? cheers. :)

The reason is that the puma engines pretty much just slot straight in (much like the 2.0 does into a 1.6 si).

As for fitting something else, it is possible it can just mean more work.

the 1.7's are as fast as the 2.0 zetecs.

Nothing else fits instantly like the 1.7 is, but anything will fit if you have enough money. Bang for buck, 1,7 everytime.
