all these vs, slating, bitching threads do get tiresome.

cars have different strong points

a 2.0 si for example is a fun car but a 106 gti/vts saxo are desgined for the twisties.

i've never differed from that viewpoint fiestas have different characteristics to saxos/106s/clios etc

plus gti's don't have si wingbacks

i've been a passenger in a valver engined rallye, 106 gti , a vtr and although the rallye and gti were awesome, pretty quick for a little car and would definately give my focus a damn good run for its money in a corner, they would do my head in everyday

i never mentioned rallying, and it wasnt a factor in the original post. if i wanted a rally car, i would go buy a impreza/evo or something. as always, completely relevant there

foolish? its a small car, insurance friendly, and will keep up with a lot. fairly common, so easy spares, and lots of modifications off the shelf if i decide to go down that route. i would think this the sensible option, rather than a massive old v12 that will empty my pockets everytime i turn the key, without being able to show up a lot of cars it shouldnt do. yes its more comfortable, but im sure that my back can deal with the firmer ride

ok, when i buy one, we will meet up and test these 'limitations'. i have no doubt in my mind that it will outperform a lot of other cars, that will cost me twice as much to insure, run and buy.

I never thought i would hear you say that but i am starting to agree. next time i want opinions on a car that is something other than ford/vauxhall, ill save it for somewhere else. i love this forum, mainly due to the fact that you can ask anything and not be ridiculed, but if it starts playground arguments everytime then whats the point?

opinions are what i wanted, and are worthwhile as some of you have more experiance than me with the car, therefore know more about it.

i found that the insurance on my old 106 gti was a hell of a lot cheaper than a saxo vts,direct line would not cover the vts??? i had a got on a vtr and it was the same price as the 106?? the same company will insure we on a cossie though?

i like them personally i know 1 boy that had one that was cammed all that lark and it flew in all honesty went like stink, then my mate whosgot a burgandy one, black morettes, black standard gti wheels, pugsport full system with decat and it sounds gorgeous and goes like stink

iv drove a vts (which is the same car) and it was mental for what it is, it definatly punches above its weight, im sticking in the ford direction for now but if i was to get something else at this time it would definatley be the vts or gti so go and get one!!! they are abit small in the back but thats expected and anyway who cares when they drive what they do just dont get carried away with the lift off over steer as my mate did and smacked the one wheel into a high kirb(more like a wall) and bent all the wrong bits. it did brake down alot but my si is breaking down just as much abd they do get drove like they have been stole so its expected. for everything you get out of the car for the price they are you should get one

i thinkid stick to the 106 gti as it looks a better car and hasnt got the stickma the saxo as,plus you can get the half leathers in the pug,as long as you pick a decent exmaple it shouldnt keep breaking down,the only thing that went on mine was the clutch cable

i do fancy a 309 goodwood though when i had a quote it was £70 more a year to insure than a mk3 asra 1.4
