Yeah brown wires = PATS.

Thing is if you do make it work on another loom you'll have to use a different 2.0ltr ECU than the normal 3 as they will only work with external pats, so you'll need to find one with internal pats   I think anyway...

My 2.0ltr engine timing is correct, everything is basically as it should be apart from the air leak. The reason why I know its leaking is because when it popped and cut out, it popped from the inlet manifold gasket somewhere, I think it was the plastic one.. that was damaged and I hoped gasket sealer would sort it out, but obviously not.. as its around 5mm thick its abit hard to seal any cracks up in it compared to the other paper type gasket.

Gotta wait till Friday for the gaskets now tho :(

I'll also fit a different ISCV.

Might even order a new exhaust sensor too just for the hell of it now I'm spending all my money on it :look:

And hoping to get a 2.0ltr ECU asap so its running on the proper one even tho it will run on the RS1800 one, hell it will even run on the 1.6 si ecu!

Well today I managed to do the following:

Replace both inlet gaskets
Fit 2.0ltr TB
Fit another known working TPS
Fit another known working ISCV
Fit another known working Crank Sensor
Try 2 sets of engine wiring
Cleaned contacts for plugs etc

Still runs like a sack

What I mean is, it will only run if I up the revs a tad. It sounds like its slightly missfiring when under abit of load and just a general sack...

Admitidely (sp?) it is running on RS1800 ecu... but it should run on this.... but at the moment I am blaming the use of the RS1800 ecu as the problem!!!

Then my PAS pipe from the pump to the top of engine sprung a leak so I need another one of them before I can use the car anyway :look: :x

Got pissed off, locked up and went home.

Walked in the door and found a package.. containing a DEEP 2.0ltr ECU :look: :chill:

Thing is, I cant get back into the garage to see if the ECU sorts it now, as I havent got the key

when i had my 2.0 fitted we tried using the 1.6 injectors with the 2.0 ecu... ran lumpy and cut out all the time... could be somthing to do with what injectors you're using with what ECU...

Hi Paul,

Maybe you've got a blocked injector or the likes?!?
Certainly sounds lke something has developed a fault rather then being the wrong type!

Was the 2.0 running ok and has started doing this or is it since you put it in?

I would write up a check-list of every part that can be at fault and go through checking each one from the start. Includng all the ones youve done already! It sounds like its going to end up being one of those really obvious things that you're going to twig when you least expect it!!

Hope you sort it out dude!!

Paul

It was running perfect in the last car, but everything bar his full wiring loom and ecu has been transplanted over! lol

I will be using my deep ecu later so I will see what happens.

Right... didnt have much time to sort it after work today...

BUT.

Ive found the problem.

Ran deep ecu, faffed around for a while an started to hear a hissing which I never noticed before now..

Sprayed some WD40 around and low and behold the engine went nuts. Around number 3 and 4 its sucking air in... I am guessing its the injector rail.. maybe an O ring dissapeared and I didnt notice when fitting it back in.

It cant be the inlet itself, new inlet gaskets have been fitted and all the bolts are tight!

So tomorrow evening I shall remove the TB (again) to get to the fuel rail.. and hope it was just an O ring

I cant imagine it being much else??????

It isnt the breather pipe from the inlet plate btw.

Thats because the Pickup is a twat.
The paintwork is the next to go tits up, bad batch of laquer was used I think :( things have started to look like they stretch and crack, leaving red under them.. so obviously the laquer :x

Although I'll re paint it for the 3rd time over winter when my van is on the road, to give me something to do

Engine wise.... the injector seals, well 2 of them were missing meaning it was sucking air in like a right bitch. Sorted that out and the car now starts and idles.

Still abit rough, well it is rough as fook, but doesnt cut out...

Its as if its overfueling cause when I rev it, it doesnt like it 100% or its not getting enough fuel... to be fair its low on fuel and Ive probably dagged some shit into the filter.. so I'll swap the filter onto another one and put some more petrol in and hope for the best.

Smells rich as fook tho, but to be fair I have only one tiny box on the whole exhaust system.
