Hi guys, this my first post please be gentle

I have posted this on another forum also as i need as much info as possible, engine change noob you see.

I have seen many posts on people wanting to convert there 1.4 but all replys are saying there 1.4 is a CVH but mine is defo a Vetec-s

I know the 2.0L conversion questions are asked over & over but i cannot find anything on 1.4 zetec-s 16v to 2.0L help.

I managed to pick up a P reg Fezz 1.4 si Zetec-s 16v today for nout. mint body except engine smokes, oil been overfilled by a silly amount, its right up the dipstick.

Maybe a simple fix but i'm set on getting conversion done.

Am i right in thinking i can drop 2.0L mondeo engine straight in with a few swaps of parts as with the 1.6si zetec guide or do i actually need the 1.6 parts??

I'm thinking as its the Zetec-s the mounts are in the right place, please correct me if i'm wrong

Is the 1.4si gearbox upto the job?

If i am wrong could anyone advise on what i need.
Your help is very much appreciated & looking forward to joining the proper Si boys

Thanks

Hey there,

Welcome to the forum :D

The 2.0 Conversion uses the Zetec-E engine from the Mondeo. Although they are both Zetecs they are completely different beasts! Do a Wiki seach on Zetec and you will see what I mean.

The work invovled with the Mk4 would be immense!! So I wouldn't recommend it!

But.... the 1.7 from the Puma would fit in nicely  Or a Racing Puma if you could find one!!

Have a scour about for that conversion and you should find plenty info.

Hope that helps!!

Paul

If you went puma engine you could easily make it racing puma spec anyway.

Ive seen cvh and zetec engines in mk4's also. No idea how much work is involved but it could most likely involve fitting/welding new engine mounts in.

You could keep the gearbox mounts i think.

Wouldnt be as hard as you would think if you can weld things.

Thanks for the help guys, darn didnt realise would be much more work than the 1.6si

Is there any particluar puma engine i need to look for to fit the P reg mk4?
Does it need to be a specific year/model?
Do i need to do loom changes?

Sorry for all the questions but im complete si noob

Can anyone point in the direction of a guide

I'm happy to go with the 1.7 if i can still do many future mods to it.

Thanks all
