doing 2l conversion

engine is in, wired up, but it wont turn over, the instrument panel lights up, lights, horn etc are ok

ive tried numerous ignition relays just incase but stil the same

on the starter i have a big fat red wire from the battery, a thinner black/red going to the soleniod comin from the loom, and another big fat black earth from the battery, ive put this on the bolt that holds the starter onto the gearbox, is any of this wrong? if not, what else can i try? someone said just wire it straight from the ignition to the starter, surely this is a bit dodgy?

everyday that passes is another day closer to being scrapped!

still wont turn over!

i get a voltage on the igition relay when the key is turned to "start" with the relay removed

the voltage comes from the big fat black/blue, not the black/red as i would have thought

the black/blue only runs from the ignition to the fusebox

also on the relay is a thin brown/white wire

nothing i do seems to get a reading on the black/red wire, wether it be in the fuse box or the starter solenoid.

so, as i get power when the key is turned on the fuse box, the power does'nt get out of the fuse box, which leads me to think its the relay, but ive tried 4 different 1's, they cant ALL be faulty can they?

just had a thought, when i had the old 1.1 loom i have a little connector (10/12 wires or so) on the bulkhead panel, now the si loom i have does'nt have this! there is nowhere for it to plug into, could this be anything to do with it?

edis or summit its called

the red block on the bulkhead panel

the EDIS is the old ignition only unit not required in the 2litre set up. have you fitted the si loom, But what ECU system are you now running? is it a internal/external PATS unit which is the origional ford security system? if so you will need the matching key. i think the PATS security system does also cut the starter circuit so may be the problem.

just reading your previous post on ECU's would say happypaul seems to know his stuff and believe mine is running a simular ECU with the external PATS and when the key sensor fell of the ignition barrel it wouldnt turn over. May be the problem, has your harnes got a plug under the dash where could look the PATS plug into? i will have a look at mine tomorrow

well if he's right im fcuk'd

as i said ive got the engine part and some of the interior loom, there is a lot of brown wires (cut, no plug), i got give the loom last year

so it looks like i'll ned to fork out for a new loom, PATS crap and key :x

new loom and the engine turns over

todays job is to get the egr blanking pins and washers and try and find the correct belt for my engine setup, 2l zetec usning the si alternator mounting bracket but without PAS, have heard the RS1800 1 is what im after but not sure.
