Rust Rust Rust, Thats all Fords seem to do.
I've got the rusting problem on my Si, Under the fuel cap theres a 2 inch hole, was wondering what I should do? get some filler and spray it? but would that be an easy job and seeing as the cars 14 years old would the paint look different as mine will have faded? and I was thinking of sanding down the side skirts as theyve got some rust on as well, same situation just without the filler. Has anyone done this before? how did it look?
I've got a Petrol Blue Si.

best way is to change the panel if its completely rotten the filler would only really make the rust spread underneath

The back of my si just seems like one big panel though, and surely the colour fade over the years would make that panel stand out and look ridiculous?

you can get replacement filler cap panels, cut the old one out and weld the new one in and get it sorted and painted :thumbsup:

Unless your planning on keeping the car for a long while I wouldnt pay bodyshop prices for a repair.

If you just want to keep it for a while but want it looking better have a go yourself, there are plenty of guides online. But as said, trying to sort it will only end up with rust again in a years time, but you might only plan on having the car for that long.

The best way would be to get a replacement filler panel, cut yours out, get a mate or someone to weld a new one in cheap (the small replacement panels are only £20) grind the welds down, filler and paint.

Yeah you never know how long your going to keep your car really, I'd love to have it forever and keep it in a collection with the other cars I want but I'll have to get rid eventually.
