leaving tescos on the roundabout and from knowhere a mini cooper s, is right up my backside so as we exit the roundabout, i give it some and he pulls over to the right lane to pass me. iam in the left lane flat out, his in the right, his not gaining on me but iam not loosing him either. 4 people in my car (including me), and 2 in his (including driver). we then join M54 and its quite busy so i take it easy and he goes off on his own and leaves at the next exit.

whats the spec on these Mini cooper S, as i was a little dissapointed not to leave it ?

I would Expect a cooper S to be slightly quicker power wise, and obviously it will handle and brake much better.

very good engines that produce decent power! I've raced a Cooper S in my old Gti-6 and I could barely edge away from it really, but my old one was RR'd at only 158hp.

very excellent cars. I'd have one in a snap if I could get over the interior. A stripped out track/rat weapon would be AWESSSSSSSSOMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEE

well apparently my fes has 161bhp and a 0-60 time of 6.6 but only have a roller graph to show 156bhp, but have a feeling its not as quick as that. my guess is about 145-150bhp and a 0-60 time of somewhere in the 7's.

I didn't realise they were that quick/light I must have raced someone pulling off in 6th at the time or his engine was underpowered/shagged as specs say it would be faster than a lil' old gti-6!

More respect for the Mini. It would of beaten you as I bet the gear ratio's on the 6 speed box are more akin to mine than usual ranges

Too heavy. Only the JCW gets my nod of approval. I was slowly gaining on one in the GTi. Apparently the Peugeot engined ones are quicker

Forget the stats, from personal experiance they're nothing special in standard form.
A mate of ours has a GTT 230??? or something version (230BHP). But my car is a fair bit faster
and I only have 210BHP (plus a few little things but not over 215).

Have to say they do handle very well though.

Yeah, 200bhp equates to about 175bhp/tonne. Same as my Clio. NA power FTW.

Well my mates mini 'theoretically' has 205 bhp/ton, where mine only has 196 bhp/ton.
But mine is faster, it just prooves it's not about peak power, my power/torque curves
are very flat so from 3k rpm it's got lots of go in it.

Also as super chargers spin up with engine speed, not exhaust gas they can only
generate their best output at high rpm. I think thats why it's slower than mine, because
he only has 230bhp or whatever for about a second where I have 200-215 for a much bigger
range.

Bottom line is, they're nothing too special speed wise.
