Hi everyone im new to this site, my names donna and i have a mk 3 fiesta si. Ive had her since 04. She has a 2L mondeo engine in ecu with daztek unichip. escort mk 5 diesel gearbox.
I wondered if any of you could give me abit of advice.
Ive lost conpression changed plugs, coil pack, leads and done a test to check the head gasket. Now what we did find was 2 and 3 are soaked with petrol. but there is a spark going to the injectors.
Could this be the injectors, ecu or the chip ? any advice would be great guys and girls
thankyou in advance
donna

welcome to fsi

do a newbie thread i the random section

what readings did get from your compression test?

what ecu are you running? proper 2.0 one or a 1.6 one?

does it miss fire/pop and bang alot?

have you checked the o rings on the injectors? ,iirc jamiecliffe1988 had the same thing with plugs and cylinders had lods of fuel in and his was down thte o rings on the injectors

have you tried it without the chip in?

If there's nothing else wrong with the car then why should you give up on it because it's an L reg Fiesta! My Pulsar is an L reg and it's in better condition than most cars I know, so why the feck shuold it be scrapped because of it's age??

In regards to yours, you say you've got a spark at the injectors? Do you mean there's signal getting through to them. Have you checked if there's a spark at the spark plugs? I know you say you've changed the coil, plugs and leads, but there's always a chance what you've changed is faulty aswell.

Most of us don't have hundreds of punds to go taking our cars here there and everywhere either  In fact, mine never goes to a garage, only my local Pulsar guru!

However, this is what these forums are good for! Post up your problems, and a lot of the time the members can help you try and solve it. Most times someone else has had a similar problem and resolved it so can help you out. There's also the search function, input your keywords and have a read of some of the older posts for any inputs :)

The fact your car is now in a garage kind of limits what we can tell you to try as you can't try any suggestions! :look:

first of your running the wrong ecu ;)

the only ecu's that i know to be tried and tested are, DEEP, DESK and DEWY

not sure if others work

have you tried a different MAF(air flow metre)?

hmmm... if it was me i'd try running it without the chip and see what that does and then put it back in and try another maf

what's it like to drive? quick?

they car should work ok if the chip was unplugged

if you look in your passnger footwell you'll see your ecu just tucked up behind your dash, at the bottom of it there should be what looks like a black rectangular black bit( it usually has the name of the ecu of it eg. DEEP,DESK,DEWY) your chip should be plugged in there

the chip is there to make the most of the mods you have, cams, ported head etc.

has the car only just started doing this? or has it been like this for a while?

as your fast road cams might make it sound like its miss firing/ running lumpy as that what i thought was wrong with a members car on here, but he had cams :lolz: :red:

When i first brought her she would never tick over when cold. I had that sorted by re mapping the chip. then she didnt start well when hot, also solved that with a new starter moter. Has run fine since. then 2 weeks ago i started to smell petrol. Looked every where for a leak couldnt find one. Then saturday on my way to work, she didnt want to tick over very lumpy but kept running. Got another mile down the road slowed down to stop and she cut out, wouldnt start without alot of gas. Then thats when i lost compression and it sounded horried. So everytime i needed to stop had to hand brake it so it didnt cut out. Got to work phoned AA they tested the plugs coil pack and sprayed easy start round the head and some plugs to see if the revs would increase. He said it was the lamber senser. AA came again after i finished work to tow me home. he had a look at it and told me it was the head gasket, or a pisston

hmmm.... and no white smoke on idle?

i'm not the most technical here by a long shot :lolz: , just trying to go thro somethings that i can remember

is it at the garage now then?
i'd get them to run a diagnostics test that will pick up if any sensors are knackered, maf, lambda, coolant temp sensor could cause it to over fuel too

but before they try and whip the head off ask them to look at the injector o rings

and to do another compression test and tell you the results

as a member on here i helped him do his conversion, his ran like a bag of nails and it turned out to e his injector o rings letting shed loads of fuel in!

an other long shot... any chance your cam belt could of jumped a tooth or 3? could of bent some valves also causing low compression

no white smoke but there is some smoke when you really rev it, me thinking that was cus its over fueling. Yes its at my mates garage as it dont drive well and the next garage is just round the corner shes going there friday. To be pluged in as my mates garage cant do that. My mate said he thinks its the injectors but didnt want me to buy them and it not be them. Hence why hes told me to get it pluged in to see what that says. I will ring him tomoz and ask him to look at the o rings How much are injectors and o rings??????????? and if it is the ecu where is there a cheap site i can get one from ?????

yeah get it checked out first

not sure on a price, but if the o rings are at fault i might have some kicking about in the shed, i'll have a look and see what condition they are in

as for the ecu there is someone on here selling a DESK or DEEP one not sure which for £50, they are pretty hard to find now a days and people that know they are worth something put high prices on them

hope the tests go well keep us updated
