Thanks very much mate! 8-)

I'm sooooooo pleased with her. Its really annoying coz i'm at uni atm and she is at home so I can't see her, only got pics to look at! :frown:

I've already started doing bits and pieces on her. Have been sourcing bits and pieces she needed like standard frst gearknob, standard pedals, standard arial, proper green strips for the bumpers that are the right colour, mk3 ford badge for the back, standard parcel shelf (the one she came with had a pair of 6x9's in and I really hate that look so had to get rid of it [its for sale if anyone is interested]).

Have also replaced the caps on the rear pop outs coz they were all rusty and got rid of the chavvy tax disc holder.

Once i've finished uni in 5 week i'm going to have her as a summer project and totally strip her down, get any rust off anything and paint everything underneath that needs it, totally rebuild the suspension and also take the engine out, clean up the bay and replace things like the clutch, belts, seals etc on the engine. I really can't wait to get stuck into her now! :D :chill: 8-)

Update time!

Well, I've not been on the site for a while as I was on holiday for two weeks, got back last saturday and then started work on the RS Turbo on Monday so been mad busy with that.

So far I have stripped out the whole interior to make sure there was no hidden rust (there isn't, yay!) , removed the engine and stripped that down, removed rear axle and suspension, spare wheel and petrol tank, removed front suspension arms, legs, anti roll bar and all brakes. So its basically back to the shell now. Been cleaning the engine bay today as it was covered in oil and grease and muck, looks brand new now! :chill:

Next job is to remove all rust (not that there's much) from the floor pan and wheel arches and then paint the whole underside red. After that I'm de-rusting and painting all components I took off like petrol tank, axle, suspension arm holders etc and basically everything so it looks like brand new underneath.

I'm also uprating things as I build it back up including spax suspension set up, polybushes, mongoose exhaust etc and am also contemplating an engine rebuild with piper fast road cam depending how rich I feel! lol!

Anyway, pics to follow when I get round to uploading them!

As always, comments welcome 8-)

Finally found the time to upload some pics!

Well first I did a compression test to see how worn the engine was, readings weren't too bad but were higher with oil than without meaning the pistons are slightly worn, but i'm thinking of getting the bottom end re-bored anyway. Heres the car when I was doing the tests:

Image

Then got the car in the garage and started stripping it. Here's the interior on its way out! (everything is stripped out now apart from the dash):

Image

Then jacked the car up using the good old breeze blocks again like with the si and got the engine out:

Image

Image

Engine has now been stripped, here's the top end as I was stripping it:

Image

Here's the engine bay after a thorough cleaning (it was covered in oil before!):

Image

The got the rust off the front arches and gave them two coats of hammerite:

Image

Then got the back bumper off and was shocked to see how good the rear panel was compared to how the si's was when I did it! Just some surface rust in places that I got off and that is also now painted with two coats of hammerite:

Image

Finally, I cleaned up the rear arches and painted them with two coats of black hammerite (no pics of them as yet) and then cleaned up the rear bit of chassis where the spare wheel goes and removed any rust and have now painted as shown in the pic:

After cleaning and derusting:

After painting:

Image

Thats it so far, next im carrying on forward de-rusting and painting red the rest of the underside of the car, followed by de-rusting and painting all the components i've removed that im putting back on, then I'm building the car back up!

As always, comments welcome 8-)

14.7 psi per BAR so 11.8 bar = 173.46 psi 12.5 bar = 183.75 psi. for a difference of 10 psi (which isnt exactly bad anyways) between dry and oiled. id be inclined to leave the bottom end alone till it starts smoking. using oil and pressurising the crank case.

wow thats an awesome dent in the brake servo how did that happen?!!!

otherwise..looking good dude ;)

Jam.

Cheers mate 8-)

Yea, really pleased with the lack of rust on it considering its age. Its made me realise how bad my si was before I rebuilt it
