yo,i have started to convert my 1990 fez into a pickup.i have stripped the car and cut the roof off.started welding back the frame work.while this is goin on im now thinkin about the engine.it has the stock 1.1 engine and is gutless.any simple mods to help?or is it a new one this time?cheers

Its pretty pony mate theres just no point in wasting time on mods for an engine that will always be gutless.Cheap power could be found in 1.8/2.0 zetec silvertops.

As said, no point bothering with the HCS engine.

Could put xr2i engine or rst engine in? Doesnt need any engine mount mods for that, simple swap along with the loom obviously, if you want to though, put a zetec in it, and if you do that, only put a 2 litre in there, would be pointless otherwise to be honest lol.

ok,so the xr2 engine would go straight in?is that the mk3 engine?would i need gear box aswell?
what kind of cost is all that?

Yea it will go straight in. You could use your 1.1 box if you wanted, doesnt matter.

And yea, the mk3 xr2i one is the one i was on about.

Cost is all down to how cheap you can get the engine complete, plus the loom, and if you can swap it all over yourself.

I would say anything from £50-200 is what you would be looking at for a complete good working engine and loom.

Fitting - DIY = free. Garage... not sure, expect upto £500 i would say depending where you take it. I think its easy enough to do yourself though to be honest!
