Basiclly were the lock is on the boot, i got a whole bit of RUST. Quite alot, and occasionaly water gets in.

Garages are quoting me £300-£500 to fix it, is that about right price or could you advise me to do anything else ?

at that price it might work out cheaper to just go to a scrappy and find a mint rust free boot and get it sprayed and relace your rusted boot

another idea is to find a good replacement boot lid the same colour and swap the whole thing

Erm it's not the boot lid tho :/

It's the actually panal that stays there with the lock mechanism.

so the rear panel is fooked.

check the rest of the car over with a fine tooth combfor any other rust mate! rip the carpets up and check it all.

if its got rust that bad where you say it has im sure it will have worse somewhere else, if so get rid

I'd agree with Paul, check everything before you go spending money on it. Take the carpet out the boot to start with and check your turret tops, boot floor, rear valance under the bumper, than start looking around the footwells in the front once you lift the carpet there.

Hard lesson, but it might be better to start again with another shell if there is more rust!

I ripped up the carpets & the major rust bit is on the boot.

Everywere else is actually fine, under the car, under the carpet in the boot, under the seats under the carpet is all alright

So could i just weald a plate going along the rusted bit at the back ?

have you had the rear bumper off to see the rest of the panel?

that could be plated but you prob ave to cut alot off due to the rust, but good thing is it wouldnt need to be painted to match as it wont be seen with the boot lid closed

Pull the weather seals up round the doors, I bet theres rust there. There is on 99% of Fiestas
