It tells you the size on the tyres mate, for example it will say somewhere 195/45/R15 if they are 15 inch or 195/40/R16 if they are 16 inch. Check what your tyre says 8-)

Abit to report for the si.

I had my gear box problem so decided to get into that.

We got the box off, clutch, etc.
Then i wonted to get the flywheel clean.

So after taking out the blots i see that 2 of them were badly thraded these bolts must have been forced well in.
And the hole had been so badly threded that the crank would need drilled to a bigger bolt size and then i would have to to find some bigger high tenstile steel bolts.

so the crank will have to be replaced.

Also i have been having temp problems with the car a lot.
turnes out the white smoke belowing out the back is due to a busted water pump.
and after a few sprited drives had cooked the seals on the engine.
so a engine rebuild is on the cards.

pics of stuff done before today.

  yea i supose i am on the slippery slope. :|

but this car has gave me so much happnes in the time i have owned it it really has even tho it is off the road and work is being done i still just look at it and get that same :D buzzing :D feeling that i got when i 1st got her.

so i would like to take a leaf out of your book dalsy and totally rebuild her from the shell all grot spots done full respray in and out the hole work's for all the happyness she has brought me she deserves to be at her best she can be. :insanity:

but at the same there are a few things holding me back :|

1 is that i am only 21 and i do consider my self a good driver cosidering how inexperanced i am compared to meany but i am still at that point in my skills were it could go ither way....glory or desaster. so i dont wont to put to much into a shell i am more than likely going to bin honing in my skills over time.

and 2 i that i am still a novice at mechanics (even tho i suprises my self by getting my gear box done on my own) but i still pritty much learning as i go along so i think a rebuild of that magnatude is to much for me at this point and i think i will just end up with loads of parts all over with no bolts to go with them crying like a ideot wondering were to start and wot happned to my fez lol.

but i gess i have plenty of time to figure it out

got the rest of the deadning out just need to whip off the dash and get all the sound deadning out of there :) .

also my floor pan is very bumpy its in good nick as far as rust goes but there is a dint in the passanger foot well maybe from a ill place'd jack somtime in its life. :x

there is the crack off the pot hole'd road i got suckered into.

and the boot floor has more then its fair share i think it must have been when the previus owner had a sub box inthere mut have been lifting slightly and made a few dents.

so am going to bang them out and spray the floor with a layer of primer and spray the floor with spray tin's for now so it dont look to bad then i will redo it properly when i come to the full body respray later in the build.

i lifted it a inch to see wot i thought and didnt like it it came off the body to far and looked excessive to me and wobbled a lot on the hinges.

so decided to go with just over a half inch looks a treat now and does the job of gettin the hot air out just as good now i removed the rubber off the fire wall.
why they bloked the vents off at the bottom of the windscreen from the engine bay i will never know all they do is collect leaves and small things lol.

well lil update.
i have been neglecting the fez lately due to other commitments and also i sick as a chip about all the engine problems and i know 1nce i get into fixing it i am going to find a hole host of other problems so have been delaying it a bit.

so i got my ass out there today and got some bits done while i had a lil bit time to spare.

so took out the exhaust system as i am replacing with an ashally system.
took out the cosy calipers andd omp disk's to stop them rusting and seizing up.
started to strip the top of the engine ready to take of the head and check the block but as fuking usual there is somthing fuking up my plans and that is in the form of a snaped torques socket key.
took out the water pump.

so far the parts list to get it back on the road involve.
-water pump
-new crank
-oil pump
-all new belts
-all new seals and gaskets
-new power steering piping.
-and a few more i connot think of.

also found that my power steering pipe was bent and nipped so wont to sort that 2

Image
went to take the manifold off and found i was missing a bolt.

done some more with the fez.

removed the exhaust ready for the ashally sytem to take its place when it goes back on the road.
Image
Image

removed the callipers and disks no use leaving the weater to rot them.

Image

removed some more bits to strip the engine down.
Image

thermostats gasket was non egsistant lol.
Image
Image
Image

decided i will paint the s brace and gear box craddle exc exc.
so started to get all the rust of it.
Image
Image

seen a few rust paches developing in the wheel arch so i am going to sort that out befor it gets worse same with any other bits i find.
Image
Image
Image

then my fun was stoped as i tried to take of the head and got all the rest of the bolts out bar 2 1 started to give way as in started to round so stoped and the other snaped my socket pice.
so will have to solve that problem.

so whent in with all the engine parts and got to work checking and cleaning them.
and i was horrified at the state i had let them get in not impressed with my self at all.
Image
Image

and this is a lil bit i sscraped out
Image

injecter rail was full also i shudder to think at wot was bing injected with the fuel.
Image
Image

also thick black shit on the ports and tb so getting that cleaned up 2
Image
Image
Image

also the throttle felt stiff and sticky so decided look at the lingages and found it just needed some better washers and better lube.

took apart my maf sensor last night and it was filthy so cleaned that up.
Image
Image

also the k&n filter looks a bit manky so will clean that up.
Image

and today i got my head off and was glad to see that there were no cracks in the block.
Image
Image
Image

so tomorow i will drop the gear box out and then drop the block after it.

decided it would be a good idea to get the coilovers off and give em a clean up but to my fustrasion i found the tops had been rounded off so i have no clue how to get them off with out cutting them out.
any ideas any1.
