Sounds daft but are your leads in the right order? My missus' dopey uncle had this problem

You said in your first post you tried jump starting but it does work. Is that DOES work, or DOESN'T work?

I refer to my first statement then, are your leads in the right firing order?

good good that fuel is getting thro, did you check via the pressure relief valve on the fuel rail?

to check your getting a spark, remove a spark plug, re-attach your HT lead then hold the plug near some conductive metal and then get someone to turn it over

look carefully at the plug to check you can see a spark

Job well done by the original mechanic then

Did your head gasket blow in spectacular fashion before then?
