Well instead of writing alot of topics, i decided to do them all in one.

Basiclly, not been driving long, and my SI 1.4 is my FIRST car. I was looking at them for ages, and finally got a bargin at purchasing one for £500 in very neat condition.

Here comes the problems and were the help is needed.


Brake pads: Was a problem but many people helped me out and gave me some answers =) ( thanks )

Rust: Next to the lock on the boot, there seems to be a lot of rust occuruing, i mean i look after the car very well but it seems this rust wont go away, whats the best thing i can do ? and i keep getting leaks in my boot, the above IS the reason why ?

Alloys: I got 15inch alloys on my FIESTA. On full lock or near full lock there is constant noise from were it's rubbings against some plastic. Is the simple solution to use SPACERS ?

Brakes: Still feel spoungy from when i changed the pads, is this normal until there bedded in ?

Suspension: The suspension feels utterly rubbish, when i was driving in my dads car ( renault clio ) it was ride over bumps no worries, with the fiesta you feel alot of impact, is this normal ?

De badged: I purchased it de badges and it has left the sticky bit of the SI on it still, you know anything that will remove this ?

Rust: Best thing to do is get a replacement panel and replace it, or if you just want a cheap job, you could cut all the rust out, then get a metal plate, weld it in place, smooth it over then re-paint. From your pics on your thread, its on the inside of the boot yes? I think the replacement panel you can buy goes right upto the area its at.. im not 100% sure though, someone will probs know though! So you have a choice :)

Alloys: What offset are they? If they are the wrong offset you will get rubbing - could also be your tracking though? Spaces would cure the problem if the offset is wrong yes :)

Brakes: This is due to air in your system, you need to get this bled out. Its VERY dangerous. Either DIY, or get a garage to do it.

Suspension: The impact - do you mean it sounds a bit loud when going over bumps (especially at the rear)? If so, its because its a fiesta (build quality ect lol). Personally, i have never driven a fiesta with standard suspension as mine from day 1 had spax shocks and springs, so couldnt say to be honest.

Spax shocks and springs will make the ride more bumpy lol. But will handle so much better - even with just spax lowering springs on standard shocks it will handle better. Cost for whole setup - new = around £300 i think. Just springs - new around £50-100. Some on essexracing.com i think.

Shouldnt cost much to do the brakes at a garage, just ask for your brake fluid to be changed. I honestly dont know how much they will charge.. Anything from £20-50 is my guess, depeneding on where you go. Its dangerous because as you know the brakes are spongey, which basically lessens the braking effect alot. It can get so extreme that your brakes wont work at all.
