Again this is the arrogant ex ford owning opinion of most of you that have french cars now and its quite pathetic how fords are discounted completely by some of you lot on a ford forum, if you don't like them don't comment. Go figure. That was actually a joke, i can't afford a Focus ST hence the smiley. At times fords are made out to be completely inferior to a french or jap alternative which is complete bullshit.

Its hardly useless, just little "new car" niggles the car has. IT's the dealers that have annoyed me a bit. I'll be using the wokingham one now if the farnborough one cock up again . I've only had it 3 months, i'll give it longer then that. Fair enough the niggles are annoying and a bit shoddy for a new car, but minus the gearbox which was a 2008 design fault but was rectified and soon will be on all ST's if they have the problem or not, its little problems.

But oh yes, my mistake, french cars have 100% reliability, never rust, dealers are diamonds, parts are unbleiveably cheap, and they of course have immaculate build quality. Oh wait no they don't, its just the image portrayed that fords are automatically shit. I'm sure the owner of your C2 never had one problem when it was brand new . Also luck of the draw comes in to it, no matter what car i have owned, french or ford, i seem to attract bad luck but the french cars, (306: Headgasket Laguna: Complete fan failure for interior which resulted in a dash out job) have had the more serious problems. But thats just my expereince, i don't come on here and say they are shit and discount them completely as that would be wrong. But, oh yes, its us ford owners that are single minded, i forgot that

Personally most french interiors imo, are crap, rattly and in small cars ie 106 gti cramped. Now personally, like with my ST which has a decent sized interior, i like a bit of room and comfort while driving. The ST is a laugh to drive, and interior is pleasant and i could take it on a long journey if i wanted to with ease, its a good package. Obviously there are faster cars out there, but i go for a car i like and as a package, not so i can brag about figures and stats.

I wasn't questioning it being a ford actually and I don't discount ford from any future purchases.

With any car if I bought it new and it had so many problems and the dealer was rubbish I wouldn't go back there (apart from to return my car), so to go any buy a more expensive car and give the said dealer more money would be pure madness.

You will find that I have no loyality to citroen or french cars and I go for the best deal when i need a car, as it is the last 2 cars have ended up being citroen this isn't because they are french, its because they where the better car.

Saxo VTS vs Fiesta Zetec-S (mk5) = need I explain?
C2 VTS vs Fiesta ST = Much better value for marginly less performance.

I must say if ford where quicker and I could have got what is the Mk7 zetec-s at a similar age/price to when I bought the C2 then I would be driving a fiesta again.

So who is the more sensible, the none loyalists like me or the "it has to be ford" people.

I do think ford are finding there way again and are actually making some good cars again, so next time round there is a good chance I may end up back with ford (I do plan to keep the C2 for many years now, so will see at the time of course)

Ford say my tow eye and door handle aren't covered by warranty. They are doing my rear light, and the tow eye as good will but want me to pay £60 for the door handle. Yeah right, yeah right. So as far as i am concerned, i have lost the love for the car. I don't want it now so its getting fixed, ford are going to fix the door handle (dad has written to ford uk themselves) and then i might just sell it. I've just lost my enthusiasm and bothered-ness.

Really sorry to hear that mate! Useless tuggers! I can't believe they said its not under warrenty, what BS! And for the amount of profit they make, i'm sure they can afford to give you a new door handle "on the house", even if it isn't on the warrenty!

I parked next to your car today was parked out the parts car park so thought id take my car in and mention the clutch pedal squeaking

Low and behold the fecking thing was silent when the mechanic got in, so i insisted he can show me where i can treat it with white grease or wd-40 if it does it again, which i assure you he did!

I think you should tell the dealer all you typed there mate, im sorry to see you having these problems, as i've had no problems at farnborough, and wokingham doesnt have all the facilities farnborough does

But some things have stirred me and i remind them that im a customer and put XXX amount of pounds in their pocket and usually get something sorted

Otherwise all my cars i had from there have been fine, case in point

My focus ST had the top windscreen rubber off and one of the mirror casings and insides broken, so i took it back and told them and they said about £300, and i kindly told them that i got the car like that and that if it were gonna cost that i'll comlain and they can keep the car and my business, and they put it "on the house", too feckin right

If you do sell her and can afford it, you can get second hand Focus ST's for £7k-10k promise you wont be disappointed, but i will be jealous and be your new best friend getting lifts from you everywhere

Don't get rid just because of the dealers mate, they are individuals, it doesn't mean Ford
in general will dog you over and it certainly doesn't make it a bad car.

I think you have been hit with the unlucky stick to be fair mate.

If it were me, I'd spend the money on a 5-10 year old car and maybe save a few bob.

But if you really like it and it literally just the dealers that piss you off then deffo keep it.

Mole: Yeah it was there all day and they did the grand total of nothing to it . Right now as i wrote the above in an extremely bad mood, and still am, i'm unsure. The bloke on the service desk was well alright, told me that the paint shop boss is being a dick but he believes me and has put the tow eye through as good will. As to replacing it, i might just pay the loan back off as thats £180 a month and get a £2000 car or something to tide the time. Or investigate a focus ST I don't know and i see what you mean about wokingham, thats sods law really

Ford are struggling for sales and i can see why with service like this, it puts people off, which is a shame as the cars are good as these problems should be little niggles, but telling people they have to pay for it is like an insult.

Emlyn: I see what you mean mate but its gone back twice already, and it has to go back again next week and it still won't be completely fixed. So it will have to go back again after that, which will be 4 times in 4 or so months.

i'm just disapointed more then anything. The car costs me £250 a month before i drive it and i was expecting to be treated better after spending £10k on a car. Also means the K+N has to stay off untill it gets fixed but i actually like the car, thats whats disapointing. Its worse then being annoyed, being dissapointed and feeling let down
