hey every1

my little fiesta si has decided to be stubben and not open its driver door

it wont open either side of the door

i have removed the fuse for manual usage but its still not budging

and the white thing which i persume is the mecanisim for the door lock is half coverd by metal work so cannot remove( sayin that it has not bolts or any thing to remove any way)

its a 5 door

please help as its a problem

i heard theres a spring or suten in the white box but as i cannot get access to it i cannot change it

any way of gettin the door open

sledge hammer only kiddin its too clean for that to be a solution

thanks for any help in any way

is it locked or does the handle not work?

The matal cover over it is removeable, I think the bolts (from memory) are on the inner side of the door above and below the mechanism bolts though, then you have to detach the rod that goes to the handle itself from the mechanism, and undo the bolts for the mechanism itself.

Edit - remembered you can't access it with the door shut

hey ok update
i managed to smash the hell out the white box till it opend so i could acces the little lifting thing...WHICH OPENED THE DOOR

so i then removed all the old mecanism and noticed the spring bit was snapped so

replaced the whole thing with another from my donor fiesta ghia

but on the ghia's motor it has a six pin electrical connector and a si has a 4 pin connector

so i swapped the motors over....then i fitted it and closed the door

it worked the door opend and closed no problem with both handles

BUT as soon as i lockd the door via the inside(pusing the handle inwards)

it wouldnt open again....wots going on any ideas

may sound silly but make sure the battery has enough power, i had a headache off mine which was resolved when i zapped some power into it for a couple of hours,

also check the metal rods are connected correctly, last thing, check the lock itself on the side of the door, ive had major issues with my drivers door which was solved when i changed the gold coloured locking mechanism

i managed to open the door again and decided to just buy a new gold lock mechanism

£57.57 from john grose

30mins later all fitted and works a treat

thats the thing i have a doonor fez but when i removed it the thing litrely fell apart so thought new one is the way forward

but yer made my bank balance

still think your crazy, lol at least its fixed though now,

on the other hand, cant you take it back and get your money back now you know its that causing the problem? less than a fiver from a scrappy!!

niether of me scrappys have any doors for a fiesta let alone the lock

but as its on it cannot be refund under john grose policy

oh well lol least i will not have to do that ever again

mind you i am spending crazy monie at this car recently

like on sunday its getting new 16 valves and every gasket being changed....every component polished ect

so shud be brill

had new starter the other day as it fell apart

but we all love the si so thats why i wana restore it to a minter

fair play bud, mind you im not one to mention spending money on them, i'm scared to work out how much it owes me so far and its not even back on the road yet!!
