hi

I bought my Si 1.6 in december for £500 and it did have a water leak but ive solved that with a new pipe. I was driving around the other dad and when i accelerated i heard a tingleling sound and so them it died. I found out that i had no water left and that a massive oil leak. The water problem was the water pump, so i have recently fixed that but i still cant find the oil leak!!! at the back of the engine i found a loose wire and i have looked in the haynes book and still cant tell what that wire is and where the oil leak is. The oil is underneath the engine on the left hand side. I fort it may have been the oil switch or valve but i cant find the valve:S and the switch. Also the 1.8 engine in the book looks exactly like my engine but mine is 1.6 and the diagram in the book of the 1.6 isnt mine. Is that a common problem????

Oil pipe? Zetecs have no oil pipes unless its turbo which requires oil reed and return. Do you mean the breather to inlet pipe?


Zetecs like eating crank oil seals. Also oil pump gaskets, there is a modified oil pump gasket which is metal rather than paper which is much better. Sump gasket? Rocker cover gasket leaking down onto stuff? Oil pressure switch?

What is this??? is that the oil pressure switch??? and do you no where it goes???

ye i fink that is but do u no what that wire is?? that is circled in red???

Ah, the wire, that goes onto the oil pressure switch, just pushes on. Its on the back of the block.

is the block the sump???? and does it go under the oil filter????

The block is the block, and the sump erm well, the sump. Its above the oil filter and in the middle ish.
