Hello

Yesterday I fitted a K&N induction kit to my Si, but I'm not really that impressed with the "bananna" pipe, its very flexible and doesn't seem to hold the filter and MAF very well. I have used cable ties and fixed a bracket to the thermostat but its still a bit loose.

I was considering going back to the standard Si cross over as it is more secure with the K&N on the end, has anybody done this? if so did they lose some of the effectiveness of the filter.

Also other than taking out a fog light where else can you run a cold air pipe?

Cheers

Not sure about the pipe but when I was fixing the fogs into my bumper the other day I noticed the factory air feed (at least I assume its factory) that feeds from the gap in the bumper above the number plate, maybe run a cold air feed out through that gap, that way you could still utilise the original feed too, but you'd get the air more direct from outside?

Just a rambling thought lol.

Thanks think I'll go back to the cross over at least its bolted down, the last thing I need is a filter coming off and bouncing down the track!!

I'll have a route around for a good cold air feed spot, at the moment the standard one to where the airbox was is still there so may be providing a little cold air for the time being!

i recently fitted my pipercross to my car.. thinking bout exact same things u are 2bh
(is K&N any better than my pipercross one?)

neways.. im using the standard hard plastic cross over pipe for same reason u sed,, bannana pipe seems bit weak. but im lookin to change the flexy piping that connects from cross over bit to the MAF sensor coz is quite bendy and and want something a bit more internally smoother ( im after a small section ov samco/roose hosing if any1 has any lying bout :) ) think it wud look nice 8-)

at first i took the whole standard air box out ov engine bay and just had the pipercross filter resting in the gap where existing box used to be. but them reaslised im guns be suckin in the crap from under car. so put the bottom ov standard air box back in to act as a mud and sort ov a heat sheild. and as ova guy sed.. its got the small cold air feed feeding to it.

im thinking of doin cold air feed form fog light so do i have to droll hole in the slam panel ( think thats wat its called :look: ) ?? advice on that please

Cheers, Grant

The banana pipe on the K&N doesn't bolt to anything, you're right, but there should have been a metal plate with the kit itself which keeps the filter itself set in position with no chance of moving. I ran mine without this bracket and had no problems, all the jubilee's were done up tight so had no probs :)
