Hello all
driving along the other day at a fairly healthy speed, when suddently heard a noise and then the alternator light came on.... the power steering became....well non existant and i slowly started to over heat. yes basically my auxiliary belt went!!!!

but, when removing shards of the old belt i found one of the pulleys to be loose.... well completely detached form the engine block and nicely fused into the drivebelt cover to be exact !

now have a new aux belt, but cannot seem to find this pulley anywhere. am i right in thinking its just a pulley, the tensioner one is above it is it not ?? i cant find it anywhere in the haynes manual either. does anyone happen to have a spare one or kno where i can get hold of one??

1.6 phase2 16V Zetec if that helps anyone.

ignore me , i did say it was the crank pulley, but i was looking in totally the wrong place

that i think is the idler pulley that helps keep the belt under tension, with that coming loose, you'd loose drive the alt explaining the battery light and you'd loose drive to your water pump

which would explain the over heating, so imo i think you might have cooked the HG

iirc the tensioner/ the one that you use when you change the belt is the top pulley

i'm assuming you can re-use your one?
