To me there is a line in modding, I went for the best 2.0 non turbo fiesta and may have had that for a while, but if I wanted Evo power then I would buy an evo.

It may be fun but the cost to benefit is way out, but depends how much money you have I suppose.

The work that's gone into that is impressive, and fair play for taking on such a job. But to say it'll nail an Evo round a track is a bit far fetched methinks. Sure, it'll be lighter, but stick it up against an Evo that's been modded in the same way for the power, and I doubt the Fiesta will be anywhere near as stable or agile.

Far from slating the car, I just think that was a bit of a crude and ill-thought comment. :)

Impressive none-the less, but why buy a slow car and make it fast, buy a fast car and make it faster.

Far from wanting to turn this into an argument, it's usually the blind ignorance of some people that wind up others who have moved on from Fiesta's and Fords, which spur on comments like "why bother".

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being different and pushing the boundaries, and as I said, the work done on that is impressive, but it's clear that some people's attitude is that because it's a Fiesta with an Evo engine in, it'll kill an Evo round a track, and is instantly a better car than the Evo because it's a Fiesta.

I have no doubts it'll be a very quick Fiesta, and would like to see it in action, but just because it's got coilovers, a roll cage, and some big brakes, doesn't mean it can slaughter a highly researched, developed, manufactured, road going rally car. :)

i didn't say that, i actually agree

i just appreciate people pushing the boundaries

and i didn't say it would beat an evo, but the only way to prove if it could would be put them both on a track, to end comments such as the one mentioned :)

and tbh, i don't think there is much of a standard fiesta chassis left there

i'm not turning it into an argument, i just appreciate boundary pushing, if everyone did the same thing and just brought an evo life would be boring

but yes, a 650bhp evo would be a weapon, same thing really with a Scooby

thats also the comment that prompted my "put them both on a track comment"

well i knew it wasn't aimed at me, just wanted my 2p's worth

Comments like fezzyzetecs give us ford owners a bad name. They prompt the shallow, one minded reputation. They are stupid tbh, and love them or hate them, rally based cars such as your scoobies, evo's, escort cosworths etc etc , are going to be more then a match for a modified road car as they are based and developed on a high technology sport

i like boundary pushing, i assume most people do and appreciate it, not all it must be said as can be seen in this thread

i know :)

fiesta's aren't the be all and end all, that is clear

my mk6.5 ST has a better chassis in my opinion then the mk3, as onslack told me it cocked a wheel up while avoiding an accident (see events   )

as a piece of engineering, i respect this car, as it is awesome

but to be fair, i bet it cost alot of money  and the value isn't great

and exactly, different people different tastes :)

i for one, know you don't slag the bleeders off  just some people on here do, but its give and take at the end of the day :)

i could ramble on but i cba

I wasn't slagging it off either. I just said if you want Evo pace, you buy an Evo. Hell even manufacturers get it wrong sometimes. Look at the heavily modified Clio V6! Handful, short wheelbase, engine mounted in the wrong place and dull steering with the whole car having a tendency to lift the front wheels up at over 100mph. What I'm saying is, yes you can put an Evo engine and make it 4WD but in reality, should you?

Des's Clarkson quote sums it all up.

yes i know :)

its the comments above about it slaying an evo that prompted the discussion :)

engineering wise, alot of work has gone in to it, and i can respect that

 that is a good point on the clio v6

personally, i wouldn't have bothered with the hassle of evo engine in a mk3

same with the cossie engined mk6.5 fiesta that was in fast ford, and i know that is quick as it has a much better chassis, but it would be to much hassle for me persoanlly

at the end of the day, nothing is going to please everyone :)

You can please some of the people, some of the time, but not all the people, all the time. :)

And that's what makes everything so interesting! :D My mechanic for my Pulsar is working on a car at the mo which somebody started and can't be bothered to finish, but it's a Pulsar with a Ferrari engine in the back! I had to climb over it when I was getting some parts out of the container where it is a couple of weeks ago. It look intersting to say the least, but it's not everyone's cuppa tea. He basically chopped the floor out the back, and stuck the whole rear subframe and engine from a Ferrari in. Bit of a bodge, but should be interesting when done, a RWD Ferrari powered Pulsar

I'll find some pics... :)

But this is what people do. Some people have the time, money, space, and inclination to do things that other people won't like, or don't see the point in doing. But it's their choice, so let them enjoy! :)
