Hey guys, girls, and others...
Just building up my lightly ported and polished rs1800 head,
i got a fantastic tool for replacing the collets you just lean on it and ping it puts the collets back on, no more compressing the valve and hours of painful attempt at putting collets back on with long nose pliers or a paper clip and grease .,
however, in the gasket set i bought, i've got 8 green stem seals and 8 reddy brown steam seals,
now my natural instinct tells me to use the red on the exhaust valves and green on the inlet,
but i bet someone knows different.
Is there a reason 8 are green and 8 are red, i thought it might have been a manufacturing coincidence but 8 of each seems abit of a rare occurrence
then i thought maybe there are 8 for the exhaust as them valves get hotter??

if anyone knows why they are green or red please let me know so i can put them on properly.

both green and red one are the same size

thanks

Hi there,

you're right, it is 8 for inlet and the other ones for the exhaust!

As for which is which, i can't remember!
Are the ones on your head not colour coded? My 2.0 head has the red and green ones on it already.

I'll check tonight and let you know, unless someone else knows off hand??

thanks for your reply, i managed to answer my own question, by checking the stem seals that come off the head (duh) lol,
lukily when i bagged up the valves i didnt check the seals away
green for inlet brown for exhaust,

although apparently some heads just use 1 colour?
