ive not even had the car on the road 6 months and its just done its 3rd cable

the first was due to age and milage snapped in the middle the inner coating had worn away and moisture got in and rusted the cable so i put a new one on

a month down the line 100 odd miles from home and it snapped on the fork, the AA man reconed i hadnt shoved it all the way down the socket so it didnt have enough play and snagged (im sure i had though)

anyway i put a second new one on it which has lasted 4 months and snapped in exactly the same place, the end of the cable was solid in the fork with no movement, it had chemically welded itself to the fork (if that makes sence) and snapped due to sagging again

so tonight (hay i can change a cable in under 30 mins now  ) ive put yet another new one on it got it right down in the slot and greased it well

so anyone else gone through clutch cables like this and to be honest i dont really thrash it that much it hasnt even seen the dragstrip........yet :insanity:

i can tell you for a fact if its the gear box end the nipple that goes into the lug hole on the fork. The lug hole wears and causes the nipple end of the cable to bind and when you press the clutch in and then release it this will cause the nipple to be at an angle in the lug hole at the gearbox end causing stress on the cable and then when you go to press the clutxh in bang wack some copper grease in the lug hole cured my problem

thats what i had been thinking, when it snapped i checked it and the nipple had no movement at all it had fused itself to the fork

for the mo ive greased it well, he motor factors dont supply new forks :(

ive gone through 5 clutches since december. The first slipped, three collapsed and now its slipping again! Any ideas without hijacking another thread. It only slips when accelerating hard, but if you put your foot behind the clutch pedal and bring the pedal higher its fine? Any Ideas?

you need to adjust the cable with the adjuster on the peddle
