Hi new to this site hope, iv done everything right. I have a rattle from the head on my engine mk3 1.6 16v zetec when i brought it off my uncle it was very low on oil. when i put oil in the noise got better but it is still there, if you blip the throttle and when the revs drop it appears again its more clattery rather than tappet sounding. the noise is coming from the top left hand side of the rocker cover if looking from the front of the car. it honestly sounds as though someone dropped a screw in there but is running well. i have the engine out and parcially stripped at the moment as im putting new seals and gaskets on there is no noticable problems ie pitted or scorched cam lobes do to oil starving as there was some oil left. so it the ideal time to sort this out any help would be greatly appreciated

mmm... well i did notice when stripping the engine that the cambelt was a bit loose but really think it sounds diffrent than that as it got better when i put more oil in. then ran it upto temprature thinking more like hydralic tappets? anyone know if it is tappets will i need to replace all of them or just the suspect ones. also are they expensive dont want to spend aload then find out its not even them
