my dads vectra has a problem the negine management light is on and the car wont revs above 4000 i cleaned the idle valve because it would keep stalling and cutting out but still hasnt solved the problem anyone help

sounds like a cam sensor mate, as i had a vectra with the same prob

Just to point out, cleaning the ISCV doesn't mean you've ruled it out, it could still be buggered.

Is there no fault code test you can do on it, because the management obviously knows there's a fault as it won't let you rev past 4k? As Meilack said though, could be cam sensor.

yeah it could be ISCV, but i know its a common fault on vectras for the Cam Sensor to go and know exactly what he means as i was given one for free, but it had this problem she got scrapped

had it tested for codes showed nothing told to try crankshaft sensor by auto electrician and did the trick

i'm more then a pretty face it seems

i got you in the right direction

Err, so was it camshaft, or crankshaft?

Crank/Cam sensor same thing

well on vauxhalls they both limit the car and commonly go

But in actual fact, are completely seperate things!

a garage wanted like 100 quid just to fit it so i hada go myslef bit of a pain but got there

I've replace a crank sensor on a vectra before, as you say, bit of a pain (does yours have aircon?) but can be done
