Having problems starting the Fes. I turned it over on the night time and it fired up fine. The following morning i turned it over and there was one loud bang from the exhaust and it wouldn't start, the cars turning over, just not firing up. I've given the battery a full charge, and added some petrol as it was very low, but still the same thing. Someone has suggested, that it could be the fuel pump or a spark\lead\coil problem ? Anyone else got any suggestions ?

block in the fule line/filter if you've let it get too low and all the shit's been sucked up from the bottom of the tank?

Or could be immobiliser?

Yeah it could. It might turn over but never start. Depends on the immobilizer.

sounds like a fuel build up/ blockage causing the bang
immobiliser fault would allow it to turn over just not kick into life,
good place to always try first, fuses.
ive learnt my lesson now, whatever the problem always check the fuses first!!!! :D

how would i clear a fuel blockage, i've got a spare fuel filter that i could put in, but what if thats not where its blocked ?

Also how do i run a depressurisation on the fuel system, if i can start the car, in the past ive run the engine and pulled the fuel pump fuse (No 19) until the engine cuts out.

Disconnect the fuel filter as thats the most likely place for the blockage as the crap builds up there not the pipes as that just the route the crap takes to get to the filter.

TBH, sounds like its backfiring, could be a lot of things. Check the plugs, leads, coil, timing.

Well, its not the fuel filter, changed that. it hasnt backfired this morning but still wont start. I just keep turning it over until the battery starts loosing juice which takes about 30 seconds.

I'll check the plugs, leads and coilpack next

I took the airfilter off and on inspection of the HT leads i found a split in one of the splitfire leads.

Is there a good chance thats my problem ?

It could be but surely it would still start yet that spark plug connected to that lead may not get a proper spark?

Why changing the alloys today, when it was jacked up i noticed the front wheels wont rotate around, they seem to be locked. Still havent changed leads or plugs yet, as iam not driving the car during the winter period. Does this info help with it not starting or the loud misfire bang ?

PROBLEM SOLVED. I found an old set of HT leads that i changed as part of the service i did on my old Si. Plugged these in, and it fired up fine. These will do until i order some new Splitfire leads. Its the big samco induction pipe that pinches the HT leads against the rocker cover that was damaging them.

Thanks to all that replied with advice\help
