I'm going to be getting my new set of wishbones and modding them...

Anybody done this yet? only gonna make them camber adjustable, when the rubbers sh*t themselves I will fit polybushes in them as well

These pics show Ian Howells.. doesnt look too hard.. although the wishbones we normally get have 3 bolts, but same principle reallly..

Slit 15mm into the wishbone at one point, slit 15mm into the ball joint bit.. then it has points on both bits where the bolt wont move if you get me.. but as the ones I get have 3 rivets/bolts in I shall be doing the exact same thing but have 2 bolts at the inside edge

Shouldnt be too hard, will show what I mean once I get them next week :)

Yes i did it, works a treat. just made the holes a bit longer, moved ball joint in. nut and double bolted just in case.

In ideal world would have have set up properly but, my world isnt ideal! Helped a bit handling and saved tyres as i was 60mm

have you thought of possible adding 2 welds and a cam so to speak on the bolt? its what all the rangies use as standard as everything is fully adjustable because of the air suspension, would imagine that it would be a lot stringer/better as it would mean that no matter how much force is on it the botl 100% wont move.
will try and find a pic so you know what im on about.

right cant find a pic of the welds but did find the bolts, can take a pic of welds 2mora for you though as im replacing 2 lower arms on a sport at the moment which is why it came to mind when i read your post.

Erm, not alot as wasn't much room, but id say it was maxed out at how much it could actually be moved in. Im using 3 bolt tho not sure if 2 bolt will be different.

I think my wishbones are laying around my garage, as my cars in pieces....il see if i can find and take pic

Yeah Ive seen there isnt much room, mine are the 3 bolt also.. I reckon with it maxed to the edge of the wishbone itself should sort out the bad camber at 60mm, or at least make it better! :)

thats this weekends job if I can get a working drill, and mine broke while doing the wishbones the otherday, meaning I had to bolt them back up as standard grr

Well they are finally modded.

Got no pictures or anything, but basically we managed to squeeze around 8mm of space to push the balljoint back.. this therefore has brought my camber in a fair bit being on 60mm on the front.

Noticed the car now actually grips around corners! (gotta get used to it now!) - due to the fact more of the front tyres are in contact with the road instead of the inside edges!!

Still abit of camber so will wear the insides of the tyres at 60mm inventually (i think, but much much slower), but at 35mm I think that wouldnt be as much of a problem..


IF YOU HAVE A LOWERED FIESTA, YOU NEED TO DO THIS MOD. F*CK PAYING OVER £120 FOR CAMBER ADJUSTABLE WISHBONES OR OVER £200 FOR ROSE JOINTED ONES.

This mod cost me a whole £15 to my current wishbones and some stress with a drill.
Other mods in the future will mean poly bushes and whenever a balljoint goes, I just whip it out the end. no problem!

I'll report back on this better once Ive done the following...

Remove 60mm springs and replace with 35mm up front
Fit my 16's back on with new tyres
Then set it up again lol.
