it will go very well
150 bhp out of the box for the frp and 123bhp for the std 1.7
very popular conversion 1.7/frp lump
you will need the engine
drivers side engine mount
wiring loom and fuse box
ecu and key

the gearboxers are interchangeble so depending if you want more top end of bettere accerlation
have a look on zsoc.com as there a full guide and loads of people who have done it

racing puma lumps are hard to come by but i think theres still one for sale on pumapeople
but its not hard to get hold of a std puma lump

Seem like good engines, and easy mod for the mk4/5 fiesta's.

although standard puma engines seem pretty overpriced for what they are (I was looking for one to replace a nackered puma engine in a friends car)

It would be a worthwhile upgrade as the zetec s's are pretty pap

It's the engine that should have been in the mk4 and mk5 as an option.

As long as it's got some good pads on as well, a mk5 will be decent with the extra power and put it to good use.

on zsoc there a youth selling his racing puma engine for 1500 with loom and ecu and then theres just an engine on ebay a 1400 i think

i cant see the standard 1.7 being that much quicker than the zetec s but ive not seen one go side by side so im not sure

well if you go by book figures a 1.7 puma is 8.8 0-60 and a ZS 10.2 so that alone suggests it will 8-)

but a FRP ZS would be insane :D

a 2ltr si is quicker  :P

but they do have cracking power...my 2ltr escort always had a challenge shaking of 1.7 puma's

I would prob say its best going with the 1.7 box out of the std puma as they have really good ratios. that's one reason why they go so well...IMO if you want to make the most of that engine stick with the 1.7 box :)

Well, my standard (at the time) RS1800 can whoop a standard Puma.

But thats why I'd only think a racing puma engine would be worth the hassle of fitting into a mk4/5

As mentioned it would be quicker.

What is the difference between the standard and racing engines?

How much would the standard benefit from breathing mods etc.

frps have
revised cams
4-2-1 manifold sports cat and system
different inlet manifold and airbox
different ecu map

you can get to around 140bhp from a std puma lump with cams exhaust, filter and a remap
