i was driving my si the other night and it was cutting in and out but jst the rev counter going up and down but no light come on the dash board then it was ok for the rest of the night then the next kept doing it and then cut out and now wont start but its the fuel pump or relays or fuse's just wondered if anyone cud help thanks

sounds like it could be you idle control valve, was it when you were slowing or when you were driving along? the fuel pressure regulator can also cause a similar problem.

is there a spark? if not it could be the engine management chip, im not 100% sure if the zetec use's one but on my old 1.1 cfi engine it had a 'engine management chip' that was located onto of the main fuse box, its a little relay. my car kept cutting out and then running again like there was very little fuel getting to the carb but then driveing to brighton it died compleatly and what had happend is that the relay had burn out and was stuck on open which ment all the engine electrics wouldnt work, took the garage 3 days to find the bugger :lol:

but if your does have it take the fuse box out and its with the relays on the top, green relay with engine management written on it ;)

found the problem it was the crank sensor come loose in gearlbox and was eaten lol
