but a standard escort rs turbo should do 42mpg at 56mph in 5th when standard 8-)

ok well it appears im getting slated for that idea, was basically just looking for a cheap alternative, but can you turbo a rs 1800 or would a silver top 2.0l be better ?

dont feel slated mate, do what YOU want to do

you can turbo the 1.8 or the 2.0ltr.

either decomp plate and risk it popping or doing it properly will be expensive either way.

if you want turbo and can get the rs gear then go for it, i would :chill:

well just wanted to give people a run for there money, got all the aggresive styling but its prob only running 115bhp if im lucky

so what would you do if you was me ? and na i dont feel slated i just feel stupid for asking it when i knew a 2l is more efficient and easyier to get hold of :doh:

My options would be:

RS1800 engine, as they still produce good enough power... and they go straight in.
2.0ltr zetec, produce slightly more torque and a few more bhp but need to change a few easy bits to fit in

RST 1.6 CVH Turbo engine, good if you can source all the correct bits easy enough and the engine isnt shagged

Go balls out Zetec Turbo, but will cost a fair few grand
Go balls out N/A zetec, will cost a fair bit also

or if your looking into something daft... and dont mind the cost/hassle you could fit anything. st170 engine, focus rs setup etc

the main problem is i am 18 and Mr insurance likes to rape me constantly so nothing overly stupid, ive heard correct me if im wrong but you can turbo a 1.6 zetec ?? this would prob be the best option as i have basically all the over main bits for my zetec.

You can, but it will probably see around 130bhp.... so you might as well go 1.8 or 2.0ltr for 50 quid

on an extreme budget you migth get away with doing it for 1-2k

decomp plate, erst exhaust manifold, erst T3, frst exahaust, some for of IC, frst OFAB/OFAC management/megaqsquirt, injectors, boost pipes and a few other bits

not to forget getting your block modified for breathers and your sumo modified for an oil return

from doing alot of reading on engine building etc ive decided to do the ZVH build i will use a 1.8 zetec bottom so i think that will be more than adiquite especially running the RST turbo, with the right mods it should hopefully be running a 230+ bhp, will let you guys know how it goes but wont be doing nothing till i get some money.
